If I Were God
If I were God, I would not stay away from earth,
But come down here where all is dirt,
Where rich and poor are not the same
Where money gathers all the fame.

I'd visit the fair and then the slums,
And then to the park and watch the bums,
I'd see the children pale and wan,
From lack of fresh air and the sun.

And then I'd visit Park Avenue,
And find that there are beggars few,
But look at jewels and ermine fine
Where all the people have no time.

They rush to subways, trains and cars,
Don't know there's a moon or even stars,
Onc more I will tell you its the same,
That money gathers all the fame.

If I were God and saw these things
That poverty and money brings
I'd bow my head into my hands,
And sorrowfully admit I made this land.
Then change it all, with a Master's Hand.
