Tragedy: A Quatrain
Tragedy

A thousand stars in the midnight sky,
Each one asking the reason why,
A fairy tale ends with "Happily ever after"
When in the real world there are more tears than laughter.

A teddy bear sits on top of a coffin,
Her pink fur intended to soften,
The shock of another premature death,
Because an innocent child had taken her last breath.

She died at the hands of her protector,
Someone who should have given her love's gentle nectar,
Instead of living to become a teacher,
Her tragedy becomes a front page feature.

Line Count: 12
Form: Quatrains using rhymed couples.
Prompt words: Stars, teacher, teddy bear, fairy tale
