Cascade: Chanting Prayers
Chanting Prayers:
A Cascade form poem

When I intone the prayers of God's Glory,
I feel the Holy Spirit flowing through them,
Healing my spirit's broken wings.

I inhale the fragrance of paradise,
The scent of roses wafting on the breeze,
When I intone the prayers of God's Glory,

As I chant these sacred scriptures,
The words become gates of peace and
I feel the Holy Spirit flowing through them.

I sense the divine rhythms
That bring happiness to my soul
Healing my spirit's broken wings.

Line Count: 12
Form: The Cascade created by Udit Bhatia. This is an unrhymed form with the lines of the first stanza repeated as the last line of each of the following stanzas. Therefore, if the first stanza has three lines then the first line of the first stanza becomes the last line of the second stanza and so forth. This form "is all about receptiveness, but in a smooth cascading way like a waterfall."1 The poet can have as many line in the first stanza as desired just as long as each line is repeated as the last lines of the following stanzas. This is the structure of the three lined form:
a/b/c, d/e/A, f/g/B, h/i/C

If the first stanza has more then four line the there most be five stanza in the poem etc.
