House of Black and White- Dark Poetry #77: In Ashes
Ashes
Blowing around
Smoke is wafting away
A sad day at the library
It burns

Embers
Smoldering here
Our hearts are breaking now
Every book was like tinder
All gone

The smell
Of smoke today
Library blows away
Electrical fire consumed all
The books

Last night
When we all slept
Sparks fell upon the books
Knowledge burned and burned all away
They say

Today
Children saw it
Their place a burned out shell
Small faces watch out the school bus
We ache

Ashes
Smoldering here
Library blows away
Knowledge burned and burned all away
We ache
