his lips, his voice
rising, touching
throwing his weight
on her…
what was it
that had been her fright
holding off the break?

a thickness of unease
her ruffled spirit
still, a number of rosy days
dreaming of change
but that’s not it
for now she’s blue
living in circles and spirals
in a ghostly body
to sound bites
“Yes, Daddy!”
but some things don’t
work at all
