The pallid screen in silence stares at me.
A ghostly visage lies upon its plane,
a soul that cries in loneliness, in pain,
reflecting empty eyes that cannot see
the aching heart that’s longing to be free.
I click upon the link. “Hello, again,”
as I’m brought into Love dot net’s domain
where almost love is found for a small fee.

The algorithm knows that I am here
and sends me messages I know are fake.
Don’t counsel me that this is a mistake.
Unlike my life, I find I have no fear
and chat with who knows what to soothe my ache.
My calloused fingers my only keepsake.
