NaPoWriMo 2018--Day 18
Smoke, No Fire


The magnolias bloomed last night.
It is a green amphetamine.
A sticky drizzle of scent,
Sweat, tears, semen.
Tidewater penetralia.
It's musky, muted sweetness
melts into hot skin.
Leaves unfold, white petals unfurl,
then the low hissing of honeybees,
a mist of sacred incense.
