Father - Daughter - Revelation
Father - Daughter

He willed his lungs to breathe
despite the searing pain
refusing to give up
til he passed on his reign.

Those who loved him gathered,
each, in turn, said goodbye
I among the vigil,
helplessly watch him die.

Withheld was my pardon,
I could not give him that,
my love ever tempered
by our stubborn combat.

Years after he had gone
forgiveness came to me,
too late to tell him so,
too late to set him free.
