Let's be clear, I never thought I would but ...

I Never Thought

Let's be clear, I never thought I would but I have decided I can get along without a car. I have had a driver's license or a beginners permit since I was teenager. I have always driven a car of some type. When I lived in Blackwell and Shawnee, with the exception of walking to and from school, I drove the family car. After graduation, when we moved to Oklahoma City, I drove whatever car was available to drive. After moving back to Blackwell, to take care of my grandparents, I retook my drivers test there (I can't remember why) and got a permanent driver's license. I drove my grandfather's car while my grandparents were still alive.

I did purchase a used car in Blackwell, but, for some reason, let it go back to the car deal after I decided to move to Las Vegas. In Las Vegas, I purchased my first and only new car. I drove it until I wouldn't work properly any more, and got a used car. I have driven used cars for years. I never purchased a car until I absolutely had to. I knew I could always get where I was going, it took longer taking the bus; however, I knew I could do it.

Before this year, I never went so long without a car to notice how much money the insurance was costing me. I've been without a car for about a month, long enough to see the difference the car insurance made in my finances. I'm going to use the money, I'm saving because I don't have to pay for car insurance to purchase some much needed items, such as a new pair of glasses.

I've decided that if the Lord thinks I need a car, someone will give me one. I know this is possible because it happened to me twice since I moved to Las Vegas. I can get around the city without a car, I can take the RCT ADA paratransit bus. This only costs me $3.00 for each ride, which means I pay $6.00 day I use it because I have to come back home. My health insurance pays for 12 one-way rides or 6 two-way rides. After the August 1, I will have only 2 rides left for this year, which means I'll have to pay for the paratransit bus.

Each day,
I place my trust in God,
knowing that everything works toward His will.
