Artificial Intelligence
The human mind is extraordinary. You can't tell a robot to be creative.

For us it is not only the loss of job but the ability of a machine to do what we can causes unease. About 70% jobs in India are threatened by automation. Gap between GDP and medium income is becoming large, and unemployment is growing. The popular image of robots is more or less equal to a slave or worker giving us satisfaction.

Strangely, we use computers in defence research, exploration, forecasting and communication. Late Hon PM Rajiv Gandhi introduced automation in Banking. Now it has transferred into a Laptop or Smart Phone. With AI we know things would be different.

AI with big data, deep learning, will enhance human capabilities. Though Stephen Hawkin's fear of a Rouge AI system destroying human civilization is largely unfounded.

By 2020, 85% of Customer service may be powered by AI and free of human interaction. Transportation will be second sector reducing jobs and accidents simultaneously. Self-driving cars, warehousing and basic logistics would be prime areas impacted by AI. AI may be used as an attorney inspired by IBM's Watson. Medical records and genome sequences would be used to diagnose. Reports, legal secretarial, etc would impact too.

People are finding it difficult to keep pace and it causes depression. The question is when we reach singularity? Genie is out of the bottle, we can't tame it but use it to our advantage. We need to change what people learn, rather than catch the AI in ability. Our current methods of teaching are inadequate, educational infrastructure is rudimentary. Is it time for us to think 2025 and beyond!!!
