Silent Sympathy: To Grace N. Crowell
Silent Sympathy:
To Grace N. Crowell

The wind upon a tear soaked face
         Says nothing as it blows
But its touch dries tears of grief
         With the perfume of rose:
Lord, Let me be the wind today
         Carrying scents of rose.

The sun shines on despondent souls
And turns their grief to dust
With its rays of silent joy
         It restores their trust:
Lord, Let me be the sun today
         Transforming grief to dust.

The snow lays on winter's nude fields
         Quieting baron fears
And soothing with its tranquil touch
         The wounds of passions tears:
Lord, Let me be the snow today
         comforting my peers.
