Holy Year Meditation

Nineteen candles burn for the Beloved
Radiating the splendor of God's Glory
To a world blind to His love

Nineteen mirrors reflect the divine beauty
Shedding the grandeur of His dominion
on a world oblivious to His light

Nineteen crystals echo the mercy of the Almighty
Broadcasting the music of His voice
To a world deaf to to His words

Nineteen roses bloom in the garden of faith
Shedding the fragrance of God's perfection
on a world insensate to His names

Nineteen nightingales sing in the boughs of God's might
Transmitting the melody of His loftiness
To a world unaware of His will

Nineteen martyrs bleed on the alter of the Almighty
Shedding the love of His knowledge
On a world unacquainted with His power

Nineteen trees are stirred by the divine wind
Diffusing the answers of His speech
On the questions of an unconscious world

Nineteen seekers peruse the books of God
Shedding the honor of His sovereignty
on a world incognizant of His unity

I wrote finished in 149 B.E. The nineteen in this poem refers to the months in the Baha'i calendar. This poem was written to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Baha'u'llahs death.
