August Resurrection:
Meditation on a Hot August Night

On hot August nights
the humidity increases,
as clouds gather
above the valley of the shadow of death.

On hot August nights
the dead lie,
sweltering in the crypt of insistent-self,
waiting
for the finger of God
to flash across the charcoal sky.

On hot August nights
light veins flowing between heaven and earth
strike the ego-self,
stripping the spirit
of Satan's armor.

On hot August nights
the shocking power of Divinity
restores the dead to life.

I wrote this in 155 B.E. The inspiration was a hot August night and a lightning storm. One of the names for lightning is "the finger of God".
