Mapped
Traced
Through mitochondrial DNA
To a woman
In Africa

One womb quickened us
Formed us
Fed us
Birthed us
Gave us

Soul stirring passions
That carried us
Through time and across continents
Splintered us
Into separate segments
Of one race
