Lucifer's Captive

Lucifer rides a fallen soul;
Binds his arms,
Tries to break him.
Whispering darkness
Into his heart
Lies that hold him,
Paralyze him,
Keep him from seeing
Another way.
A way that cuts the bindings
And lets the light in.
Lies hold him down
Drowning him in perpetual self abuse
And self hatred
That hatred leaches into his life
And sinks him farther into
Darker places
Where the light
Can just barely reach.
Strength is siphoned away,
And left behind
Is a broken soul
Too weak to dig himself out;
Without the lightness of Angels
To reach or guide him
He is damned to purgatory
Until death takes him
Into the fires of Hell.
