A Blaze of Glory
A breeze stirs the stalks and sends the cheery faced sunflowers swaying,
The sun slips down into the horizon
Its blaze a glorious red
And I hear my grandmother murmur
Red sky at night sailor's delight
An old wives tale
Maybe, but the clouds hover
Purple tinged with apprehension and trepidation
Storm coming.
The breeze stills,
The world hangs
Suspended
As it waits for the gathering of the clouds
The rumbling of thunder and flashes of brilliant light
Wind swirls
The flowers bend
Preparing for the rain
The heavenly rain
Which cleanses and pushes down the dust
The flowers surrender
Heads bowed in a prayer of thanksgiving
As quickly as it came,
The thunder rolls away
The lightening moves off into the night sky
And the rain gentles
Providing refreshment and quenching thirst
In time it too will pass
And the stars will find their way
As the clouds move off
Silence is met with a gentle breeze as the world sleeps on
Tomorrow will be a feast of glorious colour
The world refreshed after the storm.
