Learning to Feed (VI)
Learning to Feed. (VI)

The bright Fire-Star rose in the horizon as Korvi woke up, only a twenty-five dawn old hatchling. She has already doubled in size, growing a little more each dawn, though still very little. Seeing early dawn finally arise, she gets up excitedly, chirping happily as she runs in small sprints to pounce on her mother's muzzle, speaking in a high-pitched tone,

"Muum! Mumm!! Star awakes star awakes time gets ups!"

Fierya groans out and stretches herself, her wings curled on her back, looking to Korvi on her snout, chuckling softly before teasing while giving a short, her large ivory teeth were seen to Korvi,

"Good waking my little one...all up and about with no more rest await till high dawn?"

Korvi chirped and smiles silly at her mother, nodding her head rapidly before squeaking,

“Nu nuu more sleepings mum!”

Fierya laughed after hearing her little one speak, leaning down to give her a warm motherly lick, smiling soft while questioning her to give her a choice,

"My little one...what shall we have to do this early dawn?"

Korvi tilted her head to the side, looking to her mother and with a little giggle saying in her cute-happy tone,

“I ish hungries! But nots wants yous feed mes! Nuu nots wants... cans learn eats… pwease?"

Fierya tilts her head slightly, looking down at Korvi, looking into her cute azure eyes, and murrs in thought, nuzzling her,

"I suppose so! It is about the right time you learn how to eat instead of me chewing up food for you, wait here."

After instructing Korvi to wait, Fierya goes off to their storage of deer in a side part of their inner cavern, though was surprised as she got there to see that they only had one whole deer left, thinking to herself,

~"I'm going to have to go hunting later and re-supply...”~

Taking the deer in her maw by the front, Fierya drags it out, dropping it near Korvi, who looked at it completely confused, speaking lightly yet firm as to instruct her about the ways of how they feed,

"This, my child, is food. It is something we eat, as we eat meat. This animal, is what we eat, and anything else we hunt, it is how we live, and it is how the way of life is, eating unintelligent animals for food, as it is not wasted nor is their lives, for they are honored, to know that they are blessing our dawn of day by having us eat to survive, as the creators intended in the way of life. Just as deer eat the grass, we eat the deer. So long as we do not kill for fun, but swift and painless, it is right. The only exception of eating anything meat, is strictly that we do NOT, -NOT- eat other dragons, young or old."

Fierya empathized on the word ‘not’ to make sure it was clearly known, as Korvi looked at the dead deer in confusion and curiosity, giving the corpse a hesitant sniff; it was stiff and cold, definitely dead, nudging it, asking confused,

"Whats do with it? Hows gets meat??"

Then she looked to her mother for an answer.

"Oh that is simple my little one! Our teeth are strong and sharp; you bite into it, tear and pull, then chew and swallow the meat you tear off!"

Fierya says with a chuckle, and demonstrates by opening her maw over the deer’s side flank, biting into the skin and ripping it, exposing the fleshy meat of the deer, bloody still as it is bit open, then chews and swallows, looking to Korvi after with a smile.

“It is delicious my little one, and very good, it is how we survive. We eat other things for their meat within. Try it my little one, you will find it to your liking."

Cautiously approaching the deer, Korvi sniffs at the bloody patch where her mother ripped off, it did smell very good...though the looks of it were strange and messy, she curiously goes to bite at the furred part to try to rip like what her mother showed, though releases her bite as flicks her tongue, having tasted fur, it was weird and gross to just bite something she felt, looking up to her mother, shivering slightly.

"Yous sures its goods do this mums? Gots...bites and pulls...chews...and eats?"

Korvi asked with uncertainty, as if worried something bad may happen.

"Yes my little one, find a spot on the dear, and bite, pull, chew and eat, it is very good, and you will like...trust me my little dearest...”

Feeling reassured by her mother though didn't want to get the thick of the fur...she looks to the deer and sees the fur-less belly of the dead deer, and hesitantly at first, quickly bites there hard with her sharp teeth, giving a jerked tug, though so sudden and fast, Korvi yelped in surprise as it was the gut of the belly, and once it was ripped into it splattered blood on her muzzle, surprising her greatly, though as her mother said.. It taste good, so slightly more hesitant at first, she started to bite and chew, and then finally after nearly choking, swallowed, purring happily with a blood-covered muzzle and snout. Fierya watched her little one eat at the belly of the deer, surprised really that she went to that part to bite but was proud she had learned, watching her eat, knowing she couldn't eat it all, speaking tenderly

"That’s it my little one.. Eat your fill...do not be afraid, as any living thing...so long as not dragon, can be food, living or dead, we can eat for our meals, and what we kill and eat, is honored by death knowing they become part of us by sustaining our lives for them being our meal."

***

After a short time, Korvi learned the basics to eat; she finally got her fill, letting out a small burp of a sneeze, smiling happily,

"Yous rights Muum! Its was goods! I learns to eats! I ish happies!"

Fierya smiled and nuzzled her.

"That’s my proud little one...I am happy you have learned...It is important. Within time...you will learn to hunt...but for the next three hundred-forty dawns you will learn a routine to talk, to eat, to speak, to walk and stay within our home...after you're first cycle mine child.. When things get more...important...? Come now...let’s go clean you off..."

The deer was carefully put aside for later for Korvi if she was still hungry, before then they both went to clean off in the small spring in the back chamber of their cavern, to refresh themselves before relaxing themselves, having quite the educational dawn!, Korvi felt proud with herself for finally getting to learn to eat herself, greatly relieved, she didn't have to get food shoved down her throat by her mother anymore! With the happy thought of her achievement, she eased slowly asleep without realizing, drifting into the realm of dreams, her breathing gentle and peaceful as her loving mother cuddled her under her large warm wing in the nesting bed.
