Old Haunts

cut off from our favorite place while we're wheeling
through the old neighborhood
places we could travel now
in our heart, in our head

we find the familiar a little worse for the wear
a bit smaller when we stood up
taller, eyes to that future
in the destiny of minds

kept away from the origin of dreams we once had
together, in those summery haunts
graves that bury young hearts
as destiny tore minds apart
