The Cat, The Dragon and A Rose

October 1, 2015:     Last winter my house flooded, and I lost six of my novel planning notebooks, four of them for unfinished novels. The one for The Cat, The Dragon and A Rose had held several years work on nearly 500 handwritten pages of world building, character sketches, society structure notes, and possible plot lines. Nothing in it was salvageable. With tears in my eyes I dumped it in the trash bin and resigned myself to never taking up this story again.

Last night I was combing through a basket where I thought I might have stashed my NaNo ML material from last year, and I found two purple spiral notebooks. At first I thought they were old ML notebooks from several years back. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that they are my early Writer's Notebooks for The Cat, The Dragon and A Rose. I didn't even remember writing them! And there they were tucked in with some of my drawing and artists' supplies.

WOW!   In honer of that delightful discovery (and not yet having any idea what I should write for NaNoWriMo 2015) I decided that now is time to pull this story out of the dim recesses of my memory and get back to work on it. This story will never be what I originally envisioned, but already it has taken on new life in my mind. Ebinezer is making snide comments and urging me to hurry up, Clarissa is rolling her eyes, and Starfire, looking like the royalty he is, is watching over us all in amusement.
