Rey, a simple mill-hand, all of a sudden has his life turned upside-down. |

Rey never wanted anything more than to work for Mr. Flaurmann at the local mill, but that choice was taken away from him when a string of events, ending in a group of assassins coming to kill Rey and his mother, forced him to leave the city he'd known for all of his life. Through a long journey riddled with frustration and the rarest breeds of people, Rey grudgingly gives up his dreams of becoming a simple farmer, realizing that Fate rarely heeds the wishes of those under her power. * * * I started this story a couple of years ago, as a re-vamping of a former story. As a matter of fact, this story takes place hundreds, if not thousands, of years after its inspiration, and the most obvious parts of the original are seen only in the titles (And to some extent the personalities) of the regions. This work is still incomplete and in very rough shape; I know I have countless revisions ahead of me after I finish. So please bear with me, and constructive criticism would be appreciated (especially specific comments). Also, "The King" is a makeshift title; if you have a random 'bolt-out-of-the-blue' inspiration for an amazing title for this story, e-mail it to me, and I'll consider it (if I like it, I'll make a note on here and on the next chapter to give you credit, as well as a mention in dedications if *fingers crossed* it gets published). |
