Life thoughts and experiences...
If you think about it, every chance you take in life is a gamble. There are no promises, ya just gotta beat the odds.
I figure...some I win, some I lose, but thus far, the wins far outnumber the losses, so I consider myself one very lucky lady.
I am recently divorced and love my single status. I live in the most perfect place on earth, North Carolina, close to my roots as part of my family originated from a town very close to where I now live.

I've been on writing.com for about 10 years now, although not active the past few years. For those who have been here for that long, you probably know the author ; Cowboy. (easyword). I've lived with "Cowboy" for 10+ years now, and we finally decided to get married June 14th, 2017.

First things first. I wanted to tell all of those who knew him, and talked to him often, he was a truly amazing man, bigger than life. Years of physical work, including hauling hay, had left him with incredibly wide shoulders, and a well muscled body. He was kind, funny, and just about the sexiest man I've ever known.

On August 4th, 2017, he went to the Dr. with some pain in his stomach area. They did a pt scan, and proceeded to tell him that he had stage 4 pancreatic cancer. The Dr. gave him 2-6 months to live. August 23 they put in the chemo port, we were hoping to extend that precious time. August 24th, he had his first round of chemo. Aug 26 he went to the hospital with severe deep vein thrombosis. Sept 14th he was rushed back to the hospital, with a mild heart attack then at 8 pm that night, he had a major stroke. (Related to the deep vein thrombosis in his legs, previously.)

The dr told him what options we had. they could continue poking and prodding and running him back and forth to the dr. or he could be comfortable. He told the dr. "I want to be comfortable with a capital C." We brought him home, here to the house where he'd raised three amazing, beautiful children. His 2 daughters and son and myself, took shifts, caring for him. Each of us on for 2 hour shifts. All of us were by his side when he took his last breath on September 20th, 2017. My heart is broken, there will never be another quiet like him. Rest easy Cowboy...I love you.

This will be my final blog as my upgrade expires tomorrow at noon and I just don't have the funds available to keep it right now.
Facebook has become a very interesting place. I've reconnected with several old friends on there. It's amazing how small the world really is!
It's been interesting to catch up on the past 30+ years with some of them. It brings back a lot of good memories.

It's been kinda muggy here the past couple of days, I hate being sticky all the time! lol. Right now, I'm just relaxing a little while before going to work. I hope it's a really busy night as that will make the time fly by. All in all...though... life is good, I am happier and more content than I have ever been, despite a few minor glitches that i'm trying hard to learn to deal with.

Anyway, I hope life treats y'all well. I'll see ya around!

On some of my days off I go over to where I used to work and fill in for the other waitress or help out in the kitchen. I was there when they first opened the place last May, both owners admitted they had no clue what they were doing. To a great extent, I don't think they really know what they are doing, even now.

On one hand, T, the female of the two, is a wonderful cook, BUT... she works her hands to the bone, all alone in the kitchen unless I happen to come in. Everything is counted and measured, and since she does not eat salad dressings or condiments, she doesn't really think anyone should, but will serve a few. She knows, to the penny, what every piece of food costs. For example, a pat of butter costs her .15 cents, therefore, she does not serve butter with the bread unless it is specifically requested. She comes unglued if anyone asks for extra ketchup or salad dressing.

She has a nice full menu, everything from Burgers to Steak or Salmon, a nice array of appetizers....well...that's another thing I just don't get, she will serve cheese sticks, but absolutely refuses to serve any kind of marinara sauce with them, she says they ought to be happy with ranch dressing, or in worst case, seafood sauce, since it's tomato based. I just say, "HUH?" Everything on the appetizer menu, pretty much, is served with Ranch dressing.....even like, egg rolls.... (YUCK)

One of the problems with the running of this place is she wants it to be a semi upscale place with a more upscale menu. The tables have nice white table cloths, linen napkins, etc.... HE wants it to be a biker bar..... the two just don't mesh!

She doesn't want to make things that people can have at home, she wants it to be stuff they make a special occasion to go eat, well...the problem with that is, they don't come very often. We are talking about a very small town here, filled with mostly blue collar workers. And they wonder why they are having a hard time making money and some nights there are few dinner customers, and those that do come in, order only apptizers, cuz they are fairly cheap.

They often ask what we think, I tell them, but they don't want to change anything, so the meat, and veggie sides get smaller and she tries to fill them up with home cut fries which she serves in huge stacks with a little cup, (think the paper cups at mcdonalds) about half full of ketchup, then complains if they ask for more ketchup? LOL.. It gets a little frustrating! Especially for the waitresses, when people question why they can't get marinara for the cheese sticks, or soy sauce for the eggrolls, or bbq sauce for the bbq pork.

I do understand the cost concept, however, a few minor changes could increase the revenue. On the other hand, she keeps an immaculate kitchen! In NC every restuarant has to post, where customers can see it, their health dept score from their most recent inspection. The first time, she scored 101 and this time, she got a 102. Those scores are rare!

Anyhow, hope everyone has a great week! *Smile*

We sure have had a lot of rain here this year, but it's also helped to keep it nice and cool here. I had an exceptionally great day off yesterday, and today, I'm just laid back, relaxing, playing on facebook and waiting for time to go to work.

I sometimes wonder why Sundays are usually such peaceful days. It's quiet here, cloudy outside, temps are in the low 70's, and the only sounds I hear are the fan, and the occasional sound of a tractor or a dog barking in the distance. If it would start raining good, i'd go lay down for a nap, the sound of the rain on the roof is so relaxing!

Well, I received some interesting news this morning.... I'm to be a Great Aunt for the first time on or about Sept 19th. My sister Melissa's daughter, Reba is expecting. Damn! That makes me feel old!

Well... i'm off to facebook again, to check my crops, do a little street racing and see if I can find gold or wildlife in Fairyland! lol.
Hope y'all had a great weekend!

Here it is 2 a.m. Charley came to "visit" me tonight so I woke from a dead sleep, and by the time I got the first one to ease, I was wide awake. I hate charley horses! *Laugh*

So as not to wake my companion, I decided it would probably be best to just get up, have a nice glass of milk and wait for the damn charley horses to go away. It's quiet here in the living room and I can hear the sounds of nature, very faintly, outside. I have to say, this place I live, is a very peaceful place. It's somewhat soothing to a battered soul. I count myself very lucky to have lived here, even if just for a while.

It was a somewhat interesting night at work, one of the male waiters dropped an entire loaded tray, fresh from the kitchen, as he was walking by the p.o.s. where I was putting in an order. *Rolleyes* So I gained a few "accessories" on my pants that I'd rather not have had. I was able to remove them though, so it wasn't too bad, for me anyhow, for him...well...management was not happy. Then when it was about time to leave, a couple came in, the waitress, (that needs a major attitude adjustment), that had them, threw a major bitch fit cuz they came in late, and she wanted out of there cuz she had a date tonight. I told her i'd take them and she could leave if the manager would agree. I mean, geez, what's the big damn deal? A few extra minutes? I was glad to see her take off. *Laugh*

I love to watch people. Their reactions to a variety of situations, and with my work, I have the opportunity to observe a lot of people. Life and it's stages are fascinating. I will see a young couple, they are at the stage of 'young love', hormones raging. she has stars in her eyes still, and probably still believes in fairytales. Their hands are constantly touching across the table, they are leaning towards each other, and to them, no one else on earth exists.

Then there is the young family, the Mom looks a little stressed with three kids under the age of five, Dad just looks a little tired. Their conversations revolve around the kids, bills, and general family issues, there is little time, and to some extent, little interest to devote to themselves as a couple.

Then you have the older couple, they are far past the "exciting" stage of raging hormones, and what they feel for one another now, is a much easier, much simpler love. Here, again, they lean towards each other when they speak. They are comfortable and at ease with one another. She can anticipate his every need, and to some extent, his every want. The could, if they choose to, even finish one anothers sentences. They understand one another, and accept one another just as they are.

On the other side of the older couple coin, you have some come in, and either the man or, more often, the woman, does nothing but nag and gripe all the way through supper. I have to wonder why the other one puts up with that? By nag or gripe, I mean things like, "I told you I don't like you scraping your fork on the plate when you pick up your food, why do you always have to do that?" "Do you have to make that noise when you chew?" , well, y'all get the picture.

Then you have the couple in their latest years. Some have a great sense of humor, they talk to each other, and you can actually see, that they take care of one another. Those are some of the most interesting to watch, for me.

Anyway, I've yakked enough, hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! *Bigsmile*

Hope everyone is having a great week, and will have an even better weekend!

Life is going good, work is going good, so all in all, it's a good life. I have no complaints.
I waited on a couple of guys last night, it's funny how people talk to strangers. lol. They were telling me that they lived next door to each other for 16 years, when they were growing up, down near Tampa FL.. One moved away, and life went on. Now, years later, the men were in their late 30's early 40's, they ran into each other at the post office in a small town just south of here. Come to find out, they only live about 3 miles from one another and both moved to NC around the same time after living a variety of different places over the years, and never knowing what ever happened to the other one.

It really is a small world!
