I will write anything but "something." "Something" is so vague and hollow. It needs to be "something" more, an addition to the thing. The writer in me want's to fill up that which is shallow. That which has no pen meeting paper, Screen that is blank and without purpose. What can you do with "something" beloved? Will you fill it in or just let it stand and wonder what "something" is really about? Let 'er rip! Copenator out! |
Let's discuss writing critiques or reviews. How do you handle giving or writing critiques in general? Is it more important to just give praise than to actually note what needs work? Or is more important to address what needs work and save the praise? Or do you try to balance both areas? Is it different doing it online like here in WDC then it is in real life where you are seeing the person face to face. I've actually never had any experience with critiquing a persons work face to face. I know some people can be so defensive of their work it seems like they are going overboard. I think it's possible to get past that point if you can get the person to see that there is good within their "piece' and the suggestions for improvement will help enhance and improve the reading of their piece by others. When I review online here in the WdC, I look for the positive; hit the highlights and let them know how well the piece flows. When I see something that needs to be brought to their attention, I let them know why the suggestions are being made and so far I've had no reviewee lose his/her temper. Reviewing helps both people involved. It's a passion I learned here on the WdC and I'm forever grateful. Another thought provoking prompt and thankful I was able to pop in and see it. Miss it when I'm not able to be here as much as I want and that's the truth. Copenator out! |
