I thought of the image of a young boy playing with his father's belongings, which is where the content of the opening chapter comes from. Naturally for me, this turned into magic swords and ancient curses. It's a fantasy story that follows the lives of House Trask, a noble family and warden of the North. Hundreds of years previous to the story, the Trask family was charged with the duty of the Keeper. They must house and keep safe an ancient family heirloom that was used for death and betrayal, forever marking it as a cursed weapon. When Everard's young son discovers this relic below the catacombs of his lord father's castle, he becomes addicted to its strength. |
