Sure, if it's a specialized blog you can, but if you just collect useless pieces of information like the one's that I can put out, then there really is only one keyword that can be used..... "crap". |
| It's amazing to me that I have over 1180 views of my blog as of today. I haven't even written in it for the last seven months! It's not because I don't have something to say... it's just because I've been busy, and I forget it's here. I have been involved with a number of things. First off, my job. I work as an I/T Technical Specialist for our local Fire Department or the City if you'd prefer. I spend my day writing applications with a tool that I'm just learning and resetting firefighter's passwords and answering the same questions over and over again. Yes, it's frustrating, but I suppose it's essential. I also play String Bass in a local community orchestra. I enjoy it very much, but sometimes the weight of the day distracts me from the music I'm making. I've played a musical instrument since I was old enough to hold one. In fact, I didn't have to hold the first one I played - my Mom taught me to play the piano. Then, when I got old enough, they gave me private lessons. I didn't continue playing the piano, but it was a good first step. When I was in 3rd grade, the music teach needed a string player for her music class. Yes, yes, I know, they don't start them that early now, but back then, they did. My Dad was a violin player, but he also had a Bass. I got started on that. And the rest, as they say, is history. I actually have a concert coming up this Saturday and am kind of looking forward to it! The other thing that I do is that I'm a professional photographer. Well, I am registered as a professional photographer and am doing my best to get known and practice at it so that one day I'm recognized as a professional photographer. I do families, seniors, fashion, glamour and boudoir photographs. In fact, I just finished doing a boudoir session yesterday with a model from the Czech Republic (an American citizen now) who has been featured in many, many magazines. I have to tell you... I know why! She was beautiful. Not only beautiful, she knew what to do! I hardly had to direct her at all! In fact, I was very disappointed when the session was done even though I had taken over 500 photographs! Ok, so if you haven't read anything else about me just to fill out your knowledge of who I am, I'll tell you that I'm married and have been for 35 years. We have 4 kids all together, but together we only had 2 of them. And somewhere along the line I must have not told my kids about childbirth because I now have 11 grandkids with the youngest only 2 months old. My oldest grandchild is 21 and married. I suppose that means I could actually become a great-grandfather at some time in the near future, but let's not go there yet! So, getting back to the blog... well, let's just say that I will get back to it. This is my first entry in quite awhile, but it won't be the last. Heck, maybe next year I'll write another one! | It's been a long time since I wrote in my blog. Why? I don't know... nobody reads it. I guess writing is sort of a pacifier for me. Yes, it probably "sucks", but that's not what I mean. If I can write it down, I can become comfortable with it, much like a baby with a pacifier. I have been diagnosed with Adult ADD and it is evident. I should have been diagnosed many, MANY years ago, but my parents and the schools just said that I was lazy and didn't want to do the work. Well, that is partially true, but the fact of the mater is that my brain goes in many different directions at the same time and it's hard to concentrate on one specific task (like writing in a blog) for any length of time. I noticed that I wrote in an earlier blog entry that I thought Twitter was part of the reason people are becoming so ignorant today. Well, my guess is that the person who thought up Twitter ALSO had ADD! It's the only thing that makes sense! Let's give people a way to communicate in a few words (so they don't lose track of what they are trying to say)! Yes, I can see that. Other social media has also contributed to the downfall of humanity, but not like Twitter. Most of the others allow photo and video sharing, and yes, I know Twitter does too, but it was slow to adopt that. Just as a side note, when I started writing this I had no idea I was going to end up writing about Twitter or the lack of human intelligence. And I'm going to wrap this up anyway because my brain is already going a different direction than trying to figure out what to write about to finish this log entry. Let's just suffice to say that I've been "twitterfied" and can't communicate in long stretches any more! Till next time! |
| Recently, my mother went into the hospital and underwent a double by-pass open heart surgery with a MAZE procedure thrown in for good measure. The doctor said that without this operation, she was just a walking time bomb waiting to have a heart attack which would probably be fatal. The operation took approximately four and a half hours which was about right. Afterwords, the doctor came out, talked to the family, answered all of questions and we left the room feeling that Mom had made the right decision by having the surgery. HOWEVER.....she hasn't gotten out of the ICU yet. I might add that she is very overweight and 78 years old, or she will be on her birthday in May. She had the surgery on Thursday and we were hoping to be out of the ICU on Sunday. She's having trouble getting the carbon dioxide out of her lungs when she breaths. We were unaware of the level of COPD she had when she went into surgery, but from what we're finding out, it's pretty severe. My mother was a smoker for many years and it damaged her lungs. She was also a flute player, surprisingly, but kept on smoking anyway. The COPD has been aggravated by the surgery and it's now become difficult for her to get her breath. Constant BiPAP mask and occasional breaks for testing has become the norm for her. There are so many things I want to write in this entry, but my mind keeps whirring around not lighting on anything. Pulmonary specialists, heart specialists, nurses, doctors, tubes, medications, fluids, etc, etc, etc.. |
| I don't know how many of you that read what I have to say have heard about the guy who fly his plane into an IRS building in Texas, but as crazy at it seems, I applaud his willingness to do something for which he believed in. How many times have we been filling out a 1040 form and wished that the IRS would disappear into the earth or have explosives set on it's front door step. It's not the people that we don't like, it's the institution that it supports that we're having a problem with. |
| I've been looking through some online blogs lately, and have found lots to read, but not a lot of insightful commentary. For the most part, people just have a tendency to belittle the things that they don't know or understand, and show their ignorance by opening their mouths to express uninformed opinions. I suppose you could call mine uninformed also simply because I haven't surveyed these people and I can't really tell you whether or not they are uninformed or not, or simply don't know how to put a sentence together correctly. Twitter? I believe that this is part of the contributing factor to people apparent ignorance today. So many people are on Twitter that have to type or say what they are going to say in less than 200 characters. I'm already at much more than 200 characters with this certain diatribe. What is it that draws people to things like that? The name of my blog is "Confessions of a Middle-Aged White Guy" because I didn't know what else to call it, and I'm middle-aged and white. I'm not trying to suggest that there's a racial preference here because I lost that a long time ago. I'm not trying to suggest that young people shouldn't read this, however, I don't think a lot of them will understand what I'm reading. This is just me, ranting, raving, blogging about boring things and seeing the world go by and how it affects me. Speaking of the world affecting me, has anyone seen the prices of food lately? They're going back up again with the slow, but steady, rise in gasoline prices. It's funny... when this happened last time and the gasoline prices shot up to nearly $4.00 per gallon, it was the main thing in the news. Well, has anyone checked the price of gas lately? We're up to almost $3.00 a gallon again! A gallon on milk has risen to over $3.00 a gallon again also! It's becoming harder and harder to put food on the table. Well, those are my random rants for now. I need to get back to work. Got bills to pay and kids to put through college. |
Welcome to my blog. I've seen blogs of every type on the internet, but never have I just seen an average blog, run by an average person, living an average life. Of course there is no way I've seen everything out there, so if there is one, then forgive me for claiming what I claimed. However, if there isn't, then for once in my life I'm not average!  Let's see what happens in the coming days. Maybe I'll update it, perhaps I won't, or perhaps I'll just update it occasionally. We'll see! |
