For sure your blog here is such a special, personal place to record those precious moments. Like you I wish it was a more affordable option.

Hard to believe Ryan is approaching sixteen and learning to drive. Turn around indeed.

I'm sure all mothers find it difficult to see their children as adults and in some ways they will always remain our little ones. You have such a great list of memories to store of his growing years and it's something to be proud of that you'll teach him to drive. That says a lot about your relationship.

Family is ever changing and sometimes hard to accept, but none of us know for sure how the future will pan out, so it's still good advice to take one day at a time and enjoy those special moments, big and small.

I wish I'd recorded more in writing too, but you have so much more than parents who keep few records and never really appreciate the stepping stones their children take.

Sad... I keep things here because I need the organization. That said, I put a poem on my blog today... first in one month.

As for readership. *sigh* My blog went over 100 thousand when I wasn't looking. But... no sense in trying to link at facebook because no one is interested in what I write and few are interested in me. My photos? Yes, they gets "likes" but not many comments. It's as if people have forgotten how to communicate the last ten years. If it isn't a meme or twitter they can't handle it.

Sad.

I know how you feel and I have turned off the update reminders, but can't believe the gaps between blog entries these days. How on earth did we mange to blog almost daily?

You know that I was all ready to leave last time my renewal was due, but some very kind anonymous member gifted me a membership. I wish I was in a position to do that for others.

It's an amazing journey you've travelled with those precious children and well worth recording for posterity. Please keep me informed of any new place you may set up. I agree the fees for WDC are far too high for those of us who can't afford the time to be involved with everything. I'll keep everything crossed I win the Lottery this week and can rescue us all, but I won't hold my breath.

It's always been obvious what a caring helpful and giving soul you are and I'm glad Journey takes after you and you can see that in her actions. Oh that this season was truly about giving to those who need it most, but hopefully the goodness of people like yourselves will rub off on others.

I want and need nothing apart from peace of mind and much prefer giving than receiving. I have just finished wrapping all the grand monsters gifts and seeing their smiles will be enough for me this season.

A lovely tribute to the celebrations and your family. If everyone felt like Ryan and Journey about the season, then I wouldn't dislike it so much.

I've always thought your Thanksgiving sounds like a genuinely pleasant and worthwhile celebration. Now I shall be in the US for one and even though my little family are not here I look forward to enjoying the day with my friends and their family.

Enjoy the concert and your special Thanksgiving.

I know how you feel about the blogging gaps. Time flies by so fast and we all seem bogged down by life with little time to spare.

I'm also with you as regards the site and moving elsewhere. I have managed to save my blogs to my computer and will be an unpaid member at the end of October. Sad, but so be it. That kind of money isn't easy to come by and unless we are using the site every day for other reasons, no way is it worth it. Let us know if you do set up elsewhere with the details. At least we have Facebook to keep in touch.

You know how I feel about the Humbug season and one of the reasons is the stress and expense it forces upon those of us who struggle already. I know your dedication and love for your family means far more than anything money can buy so don't beat yourself up. When I win the Lottery...in my dreams.

Another Milestone (11y, 2m, 2w, 6d old)

Today has been a somewhat busy and productive day. We've spent the morning doing some laundry, making breakfast sandwiches, doing some dishes, etc. Today, Grace had her 12th birthday party, and Journey, was of course, invited. I am so thrilled that Journey has such a great friend in Grace. They're wonderful together, and I love that they care about each other so much. I spoke with Melissa about the party, seeing if I should get base clearance to go on base and take Journey, or if it was okay for just Journey to go with them, so I didn't have to get base clearance. In the end, it worked out that Journey went with Grace and family to the bowling alley on base, because I ended up having a meeting with my association cookie manager today to get all the materials I needed and was shorted for cookie season this year. It was a very productive meeting with Laurel, and I'm glad we had it. Lots of questions answered. I'm going to need to write out a structure for our training on December 9th. Laurel surprised me and said she may come. I like that idea.

Anyway, back to the milestone! Because I was meeting with Laurel, I asked Melissa if she could please drop Journey off at our house, because I didn't know when I' be back. Melissa agreed to do so, and Journey was off, on her way to celebrate with Grace.

Today is the first birthday party Journey's ever been to that I did not attend with her.

This has never happened before, in all her 11 years of life, up until this point. It seems natural that it would happen at Grace's party, as we've been family friends for years. Grace was the first sleepover that Journey had. Melissa sent me some pictures of the party, and it looked like everyone was having a good time. I'm so glad that she was able to attend and didn't need me to be there with her! This has been a long time coming.
