"Failure is unimportant. It takes courage to make a fool of yourself."
CHARLIE CHAPLIN
Sometimes it takes darkness and the sweet
confinement of your aloneness
to learn
anything or anyone
that does not bring you alive
is too small for you.
David Whyte
This is my supplementary blog in which I will post entries written for prompts.
I wish there was more silence, maybe people might actually think before speaking. But I know that'll never happen because ignorance and hatred are hot commodities because then they get their 15 minutes of fame. sad but so true that ou rmedia coverage prefers to sensationalize negativity versus focusing on positive things.
I drink out of a chipped mug too. I didn't chip it but Vic did banging it into another cup taking it out of the dishwasher. He wanted to replace it but I couldn't part with it because it came from my grandson. So I know exactly what you mean about never forgetting him or tossing the mug. Johnny wasn't perfect by a long shot. He gave his parents a run for their money but he showed me a whole different side of him. I saw his vulnerabilities and loved him no matter what.
Love doesn't have to be perfect...it's just there flaws and all.
I do love spring and I suspect it's because of winter...even here in Florida. I'm cold-natured and it seems I stay cold until I hear those wonderful words...it's almost the first day of spring. And then like magic my feet and hands finally start to warm up. The only thing bad about spring? It doesn't last long enough.
I enjoyed reading your post and saying uhhuh, I like that! Thanks for sharing, Joy.
Prompt: "You are never too old to set another goal or to dream another dream." C. S. Lewis Do you agree with this quote?
----
Do I agree with the quote? Only in some cases. Let’s take climbing Matterhorn. I couldn’t do it even when I was much younger, as in "Alps: Zermatt, Bern, Lugano, Castles" . Now, at the age of three-quarters of a century, I am not going to set that goal again.
Yet, I can set smaller goals, like cleaning a closet or two, which isn’t happening, either. Or let’s say writing a short story or a short poem or making that chicken casserole, which that third option I have to since I defrosted the thing.
I am also not too old to dream of flying, exploring the insides of large maze-like buildings, climbing a tall oak, as long as these dreams happen while I sleep at night.
But I am not going to try to get another vocation. I’ve had it with vocations. Avocations, maybe because learning is forever, isn’t it!
