Some people would say that this scripture is in conflict with other scriptures, which say it is okay for us to judge the actions of others. What people fail to realize is that Jesus is saying we should not judge others negatively or run them down for doing the very things we ourselves are guilty of. It is perfectly okay for a Christian to lovingly point out that a brother is in error. In fact it is encouraged in several scriptures. What is not okay is to ridicule or judge self-righteously. All too often people judge others out of fear or hatred. When I think of it Simon has likely pegged me. I think I write in hopes that what I write in hopes that what I write will be read and perhaps bring a smile to somebody's face. I sold a book once to a lady who read a poem I wrote in it and cried profusely. Knowing I touched her heart in such a way almost made me want to give her the book. Since I was in business however I sold it to her at cost. I write to move people's souls. If I can touch another person's soul I have achieved my goal. Prompt: "John Gardner's The Art of Fiction has an interesting third person limited POV exercise. Let's give it a try-"Try describing a barn from the point of view of a man who just learned that his son has died. Don't tell us anything about the son or even that his son has dies...just describe the barn as he sees it." Have fun." I want to write from God's point of view. However I don't want to say that I am God. I just want people to know that God has sacrificed everything for them. He sent His Son who was born of a virgin and yes, He was born in a barn. So God sees the barn as holy ground. The barn is sacred to Him because Jesus humbled Himself to be born in a barn. Now God is asking all men to humble themselves and believe in the Son that He sent. Living as a Christian is so simple. We complicate it because we have a hard time believing that things would be simple with God. All he asks is that people humble themselves and believe in the Son that He sent. If we do we are promised eternal life. While that life will not happen in these corrupt bodies we will be raised from the dead in bodies that are incorruptible. Then we will be with God forever. If we refuse we will be forever separated from God in hell in bodies that also will not die. The choice is ours.    |
