For my blog "prompt: Do you think there is a Spiritual picture going on with Covid-19? Explain your opinion."

I really don't know. I mean, the question seems to be whether COVID is one of the plagues of Revelation. I don't know if it is or not. In my professional opinion Revelation was about the siege of Jerusalem carried out by Roman General Titus in the late 60's through 70AD. It has all been fulfilled except the last few chapters.

However, I can say that God has traditionally used man to punish man. In 583-586 BCE God used Nebuchadnezzar to punish the entire known world. So it is very possible that God is using COVID to destroy part of the population due to sin. However, there is no clear evidence that this is the case. The Spanish flu of 1917 wiped out so many people that bodies were stacked in the streets and burned. Yet the world continued on so COVID could just be our 100 year pandemic.

On the other hand, Peter tells us that God is going to destroy mankind with fire. Man is working hard to develop self-sustaining, self-aware artificial intelligence. The world is also becoming warmer all the time. I believe man will succeed in developing the artificial intelligence and that this intelligence will then create a nuclear holocaust that will destroy mankind. It will not be like Terminator where small pockets of resistance will survive. I believe all life will be destroyed. Then Christians will live with God in heaven and rule a world of machines.

My apologies for my absence yesterday. I spent most of the day on the phone with my publisher. My book Teatime will be on the shelves within a week. My publisher is arranging a feature for it in the Los Angeles Times and at a book fair hosted by the Times.

For my blog "Prompt: Write down what's going on in your life right now spiritually."

Right now my life is at a spiritual plateau. That usually means I have pulled away from God.

For my blog "Prompt: What has been your strangest experience in Church?"

I don't know that I ever had any really strange experiences in church. I have seen things that were odd. For example, a young woman went to screaming one night at a Benny Hinn crusade. Instead of casting the demon out, Benny had her thrown out. My pastor and I went out, found her, and ordered the demon to leave her in the name of Jesus. She was immediately released from its grip. Why Benny did not do that we never did figure out.

For my blog "Prompt: Talk about something God has helped you overcome and how it was overcome."

God helped me overcome drug addiction. I spent 25 years in active addiction. My drug of choice was Benadryl, although I also used narcotics, marijuana, and alcohol. Benadryl was the least expensive and I used a lot of it. During my undergraduate years I used such massive amounts of it that I could not walk at times. When I did walk I walked close to a wall where the rails were so I could grab them. Doctors tell me I am lucky to be alive. I tell the doctors that God had a plan for my life.

I overcame my addiction through twelve step programs. I was a half-baked, novice Christian at the time so I prayed regularly but did not live a good life. The main problem was that I knew what i was supposed to do based on Bible study. I just did not know how to do it. The Bible is excellent in regards to telling believers how they are supposed to live. I always thought it fell short in explaining how to do those things. For example, we are told to forgive in Matthew 7 yet there is no clear instruction on how to forgive. Twelve step programs broke it all down for me. I called them "Spirituality for Dummies", because I was as dumb as a sled track. The programs taught me how to be spiritual and God used them to save me from addiction.

The heart tells who we really are.

Write about the heart in your blog today."

I agree with the author that the heart reveals the person. If you really want to know what kind of person they are look at the heart. Does it think only of its own best interest? Does it act like the world should give in to it? If so the heart is the heart of a narcissist and needs to be avoided.

Does the person act like they are all that matter and seem to feel no remorse? They are a psychopath. Avoid them.

Do they go out of their way to help and even make sacrifices? Do they put everybody else ahead of themselves? This is the earmark of love.

For my blog Prompt: "Jesus told Nicodemus that he must be born again. Nicodemus obviously did not understand this at first. What does it mean to you to be born again? This story can be found in John 3:1-21."

A lot of people do not understand the concept of being "born again." It refers to a regeneration of the soul that occurs when one is saved. Prior to salvation one's soul is separated from God due to sin. Augustine postulated that this was "original sin" which is the sin of Adam, passed down from father to child. Jesus escaped this because Jesus had no earthly Father. Therefore Jesus was not born guilty of sin. Those of us with earthly biological father's are guilty of original sin and death is the cost of that sin. The soul is born dead due to that sin. The body and spirit live on and we do not realize that our soul is dead until the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin. At that point we make a conscious decision to either accept Christ or reject Him. If we accept Him, the Holy Spirit regenerates or raises our soul from the dead. This is the second birth.

Paul discusses the second birth in Romans 6:1-10. In verses 4-6 he describes baptism and says that baptism puts us in the grave with Jesus. Then when we come out of the water we are born again or resurrected to walk in a new life. I guess it really depends on your interpretation of these passages. I personally believe we are saved the moment we trust Jesus as Savior and all the rest is activity in the supernatural realm. Some believe that Romans 6:4-6 literally mean that baptism represents burial in the tomb of Christ and being taken from the water is literally the second birth.

. Talk about this in your blog.

I think love eventually finds all of us. I have been married twice, and looking back, I wonder if I was truly in love with either of them. I have matured a lot in the past 20 years and understand more about love. I now know that love is an action word that we loosely throw around. We think it is a feeling and when that feeling wears off, we're ready to throw in the towel. My first wife was a product of divorced parents so she devalued love. When she no longer felt "in love" she filed for divorce. I complied because I wanted her to be happy. My parents were together for 56 years. My dad was the only man my mother ever had. She stayed with him through numerous affairs and you name it. I learned from my mother that love is not a feeling. It is a decision and an action. You decide you are going to commit and take action to do so. It may mean sacrificing everything you believe in but you stay with your partner no matter what.

For my blog "Prompt: In Ruth chapter one, Naomi tells her daughters-in-law to go back to their country and gods. What do you think this tells us about the condition of her heart towards God?"

I can see what the prompt is driving at. The prompt wants us to say that Naomi did not really trust in or belive in God. This however was not the case. Later scriptures show us that Naomi had faith. The scripture here is Naomi trying to protect her daughter's in law. If they went back to their countries they would be accepted citizens with a future and security. If they followed Naomi they became the lowest ranking slaves. Even slaves had ranks. Slaves born in a country had more standing than outsiders. Ruth was an outsider, She was also a woman. Basically by legal standards she was worse than a slave if she stayed with Naomi. In Moab she was a citizen. Naomi wanted her to be a citizen, not a bottom rung slave.

We used to say that in 12 step programs when somebody brought up a discussion topics that forced us to think. I have been struggling with my narcolepsy for the past two days. I have not had my morning mocha yet so my brain is in a fog. Now I have to try to think? lol

Seriously, if a friend is in crisis, we need to be there for them. We need to discuss the crisis with them and figure out how to fix it or at least make it bearable. This poem is about a friend whom the author tries to console during a crisis. The author does all the right things.

Image #2249882 over display limit. -?- Prompt: How does it stir your soul to consider God's wrath fell on Christ instead of sinners?"

To be honest, my mind still has trouble wrapping around the concept. I am human and I tend to think in human terms. It is difficult for me to think like and understand God. I have to take it on faith that He loves me and forgives me no matter what. This becomes even harder when I find myslf in a patterm of sin. I know better than to sin. I know sin is harmful to me and therefore God hates it. I know God wants only the very best for me. Yet I find there are some sins that are nothing short of addictions. Try as I may I cannot overcome them and find myself engaging in them even though I know they are against God's will. At this point the accuser steps in with "See, I told you so. You're week and useless to God. God cannot forgive you because you intentionally, flippantly, and defiantly sin against Him. You are useless and lost."

At this point all I can say is "Yes. I am weak and helpless. I'm addicted to sin and will be as long as I remain in this flesh. However Jesus died for me once and forever. No matter how rebellious my attitude and no matter what you maay say Accuser, I am covered with the blood of the Lamb. Every sin I ever committed, continue to commit, or ever will commit was forgiven at the cross. Jesus did not save me and expect me to keep myself saved by living perfectly ever after. Jesus saved me period and that is the end of the story."

Have you ever felt angry or offended by God? Write about it.

I think we have all been angry at God at one time or another and God is okay with that. He knows that His "thoughts are not our thoughts" as Isaiah reports so misunderstandings will occur. When they do occur we are likely to be "offended."

Being offended however does not mean that I grab all my toys and leave. Nor does it mean I overreact and begin living in an ungodly manner. What it does mean is that I am upset by something and I let God know that I am upset. If you do not believe it is okay for belivers to get angry and frustrated with God then you have never read Psalms! David was often very angry and frustrated with God. He accused God of going to sleep on the job. He asks if God cares. There are times when David was right down mouthy with God, yet these expressions of anger made it into our Bible because David was honest. What is moreso is that God called David a "man with a heart like God's heart."

If David had a heart like God's heart and David expressed anger toward God, then it means it is okay to not understand God. It is okay to be angry at God. The key is to do so without losing faith.
