Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs Prompt: "Discuss this quote in your blog: “Why do we resist the mystery that change brings? When we get too rigid and inflexible, rigor mortis of the soul sets in. For proof of this, we need look no further than to those who choose to stay in a relationship or job long after the soul, or life force, that originally brought it passion and joy has vacated the premises.” ― Dennis Merritt Jones"

It is thinking like this that has led to a society where everything, including marriage, is disposable. If you get married and the joy leaves a relationship you just file for a divorce? I don't think so! I told my late wife that the only way either of us was leaving our marriage was in a body bag. Unfortunately she left just that way in 2014. Relationships are something you work for. We live in an age where people are lazy and look for a quick fix or way out. If you want out get a body bag! Otherwise put some effort into it!

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs Prompt: "Happy Halloween! Happy Samhain! Let’s embrace the day and write about fear. What is a fear you have conquered?"

I started to not answer this prompt because as a Christian I do not celebrate Samhein and try to shy awway from Halloween, but as the world becomes more and more evil it appears that these celebrations are growing bigger and bigger. I know that Jesus attended celebrations that were not in the Bible or Old Testament as it was during His earthly ministry. If He can do so then I will attend parties here. The celebration He attended was not a pagan celebration though. Halloween is a pagan holiday and for that reason I question it. Jesus attended a mid winter celebration honoring the defeat of Alexander the Great, which was a Jewish celebration. He never attended pagan ones.

Finish the sentence and tell us why."

As October draws to a close I look forward to both November and December. I look forward to November because that is the month during which I will go to work at the new Pathways of Hope center at the Salvation Army Huntington WV Corps. Pathways of hope is a program designed to educate people about making better choices and breaking the curse of generational poverty.
I am looking forward to December because I graduate from Marshall University in December. I have some really big events coming up this winter and at the end of this year.

Let this quotation inspire your blog entry."

I live and work in the valley of shadows because I am a Christian soldier in the Salvation Army. It is my job to deal with human misery. I want to bring souls to the kingdom of God and I know that people are not going to show concern for their spiritual well being if they are starving. We meet physical needs in an effort to be able to meet spiritual needs. Shadows are real but there is a light that dispels all shadows.I carry the light within me in the form of the Holy Spirit. I am not worried about the shadows. They don't intimidate me a bit.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs "Prompt: Have you read any interesting articles lately? Tell us about the most interesting."

Yes I have read something interesting today. I just finished reading Revelation 4 and discovered that the Lamb of God is the only Person worthy to open the seven seals that will spell doom to sin. I am so blessed to be a Christian. Whether your believes are post tribulation, pretribulation, or atribulation you know Christians are saved. I love Jesus Christ and I will not deny that. He died for me so why should I not love Him? I wish everybody was an on fire Christian!

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs Prompt: "Write about an adult event or gathering from the point of view of a child.}\\

When I was a child I remember going to church with my mom. In fact, some of my earliest memories are about going to church. We went to a church called "Clay Point United Methodist", which was an old country church with a circuit preacher. I remember the preacher scared the fire out of me. I often went home and had nightmares after listening to him preach. I also remember the Sunday school teacher gave us all a stick of gum. Aside from that I don;t remember much.

Blog City image small Prompt: "Everyone’s addicted to something in some shape or form. What are things you can’t go without?"

If you believe the disease theory for addiction then you do not honestly believe that everybody is addicted to something or being addicted would be considered a normal, healthy state of being. I am a recovered drug addict. Do I believe most people are addicted to something? Yes I do. However those who are addicted have an abnormal relationship with that person, place, or thing. Jesus Christ breaks addictions. If you are addicted give God a try!

** Image ID #199652 Unavailable ** Prompt" Use these random words in your blog entry today: touch, proportion, exempt, count, clerk, circumstance, rub, characteristic, use, nightmare. Have fun!"

Do we pick at day at random to do this or what? I've been trying to detect a pattern in the blog prompts and haven't thus far. Anyway the blog has a touch of mystery to it as we try to second guess what the blog prompt may be. I do have to say that everything seems to fall within the right proportion as I look backwards, Nothing seems to be exempt from becoming a topic. I can count similar topic on one hand so they change quite often. You never know what clerk will post the prompt I guess it depends on the circumstance. There are no genies to rub with my blog, What you see is what you get. I use the following signatures because I an=m proud of them. They are a characteristic of my blog. Last night I had a vivid dream but no nightmares thank God.

Image #1997652 over display limit. -?- Prompt: "What are your five best organizational tips? I don't know about you but trying to find a place for all the outdoor stuff gets more challenging each year. Why can't garages stay uncluttered?"

I really have no organizational tips. I know I need to clean my room and will probably do that today. I live at the West Virginia Veterans Home in Barboursville WV. My room is a small dorm room so I don't have a lot of room. The organizational tip I follow the most is not to accumulate a lot of junk to begin with. I will spend about four hours today organizing my room, which means I am going to be getting rid of a lot of junk. I have mainly clothes that I will be getting rid of. I also have a printer that I will be donating to the Salvation Army and a few other things that will be tossed . I have found it best though not to accumulate a lot of junk. Many of the guys up here gather up stuff that they really do not need through out the year and it ends up in bags strewn across their floors. Then instead of simply thowing the bags away, they go through them and save half the stuff to once more find its way back into bags on the floor. Not me. I don't usually take it to begin with. Even then it magically accumulates. Now it's cleaning time.

Image #1971183 over display limit. -?- "Prompt: Do you read autobiographies of famous people? Would you ever want to write a biography of a famous person?"

When I was a child I was an avid reader. I read every biography we had in the school library. As to writing a biography I seriously doubt I ever would. There would be too much research involved and I wouldn't even know where to begin.

Image #1997652 over display limit. -?- "Prompt: Write about comfort.:

I typically answer prompts such as this from faith and this one will be no exception, My comfort and strength come from Jesus Christ, the author of comfort and strength. Many people get the impression that being a Christian is suppose to be an easylife, full of riches and material blessings. It is amuch easier life than my life of sin was, but it is not full of material blessings, In fact it is often a life of poverty. It is not however abject poverty. I always have hope and like the Apostle Paul I have learned to be content with whatever my circumstances are, Philippians 4:11-13.

Image #1971183 over display limit. -?- "Prompt: In Thunder and Lightning: Cracking Open the Writer’s Craft, Natalie Goldberg says, “I see that while I think I’m the active one, always doing, creating, I am also the one being created.” What are your opinions about what she says, and does what she says apply to you in some way?"

Naturally what she says applies to me. I know I am a created being. I didn't spontaneously pop into existence and then evolve over billions of years. I am a cretaed being and the stars of heaven declare the handiwork of my creator.

Image #1997652 over display limit. -?- "Prompt: What is your favorite autumn desert? Do you have a special memory about that desert?}

My favorite fall desertis pumpkin pie with with topping. I like it because it reminds me of mom making her own. She even ground the pumpkin that we used as we usually grew our own vegetables and fruits. I remember watching her cook the pumpkin and can it for use on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Of course we ate pie that night as well. She made her own crust and everything. Nothing was store bought. I wish my Mom was still around to make pumpkin pies. She passed four years ago.
