My thoughts on different words. Yes this actually goes on in my head.
I like to do this from time to time, which would suggest that I have... too much time.

Gris - ly

/ˈɡrizlē/

Adjective

         Causing horror or disgust

It was a Grisly scene. But was it a Grisly Bear? Are you suggesting that the bear appears to be grisly or does it do grisly acts? Mayhap it catches salmon so poorly that one could only call its skills grisly, or perhaps the Grisly bear is grizzled with gray hair.

Maybe the scene itself was grizzly. Perhaps it was a grizzly scene of several gray-haired, grizzled men. Perhaps these several grizzly, gray-haired, grizzled men were hunting a grisly bear?

Who knows? You lost me at /ˈɡrizlē/.
