My life is full of ups and downs and, quite frankly, sideways. However, I have no delusions that I am the only one who suffers from such difficulties. This is the place to get to know the good and maybe not so good part of me!

Chris Breva, I agree to a point. Sometimes, we try our best to help those people, but some just won't change. That's when we need to detach ourselves. The person has to want to change. We can't make them. So, I don't agree with continuing to try to help people to the extent where it brings us down. You have to draw the line somewhere for your own health and sanity.
I agree with you to a point. However it is the toxic people that we need to embrace the most, not to buy into their whining but rather to have somebody we can serve. Toxic people can indeed be very unhealthy but are not the unhealthy people the ones who most need our help? Mother Theresa dedicated her life to helping some of the sickest people on Earth and they claimed she was a saint for doing so. maybe we need to help a few sick people as well instead of abandoning them or leaving them behind? Now if our helping them becomes a means of their self-destruction then perhaps falling flat will help them.
I know the benefits of Dawn dish soap, I had a cat once that fell into a pan of dirty motor oil, my husband was changing the oil on the car and the silly cat was outside and tried to jump over the pan and missed. The back half of her body fell into the pan, poor thing. I didn't know what to do, my neighbor told me to try Dawn, and it worked.
