If you have found your way here and continue in, please let me know the following:
1) Can you connect with the main character Kokoro?
* Kokoro is meant to be semi-realistic, as well as semi-caricature a la Adrian Mole.
2) How well does each chapter flow?
* As the story takes place in a foreign culture and setting, there may be expository bits I threw in that are actually unnecessary and impede the narrative, or parts that I fail to explain well to those not familiar with Japan.
3) How sensitively are the themes of gender identity and confusion treated?
* Gender identity and orientation is a controversial topic with many people, and it is the intention of the novel to educate, but not to preach. How well does the novel achieve this?
