I love games, all games, I've played games for as long as I can remember. I play games every single day, sometimes all day.

I'm playing a game right now, it's called the 30 Day Blogging Challenge. The object is to write a blog entry every day for thirty days, it's a challenge and a competition, and it's fun. You can't beat fun!

I make games, anything I do can become a game. I've created some of the games we've played in the 30DBC. 50/50 blogging, 5 Day Mini Challenges, and the infamous UNOFFICIAL 30 DAY BLOGGING CHALLENGE'S ELIMINATION STYLE BLOGGING CHALLENGE FUNDRAISER, There was also the Blog Mob, as well as a couple of unique contests (coloring contest and Nascar Pool) held in *Andre the Blog Monkey's Banana Bar. There are some of these games saved in the archives of the bar-room if you'd like to check them out.

As you may know, I'm the fifth of six children in my family. By the time I came along, my siblings were already playing games, and I wanted in. We didn't have a lot of money, so games were a great gift. Mom learned that one game could entertain six kids for hours, and games are very affordable. Every Christmas we would be gifted at least one board game, and a replacement rod hockey game because we destroyed those things in short order. You can't beat fun!

Myself and one of my older brothers are game creators. If we had to sit in a room together for any length of time, we'd make up a game and start playing. Spin the Pillow, Shoe Ball, Hockey With Your Hands, Bolo Drop, Bread Bag Hacky Sack, Door Door, and a bunch of others, but these were the best of the games.

I was going to share a memorable story about the games we played growing up, but then when I mentioned the elimination-style blogging challenge I decided to write a little bit about that because most of the bloggers in this month's challenge weren't around for that, and it was EPIC!

First of all, I think it was the first time Fivesixer turned over the keys to the 30DBC to me to run an UNOFFICIAL Challenge.

I had no idea what I was going to do, but I promised Norb that I would raise some GP for the group.

So I made the posters and invited bloggers to join the UNOFFICIAL 30 DAY BLOGGING CHALLENGE'S ELIMINATION STYLE BLOGGING CHALLENGE FUNDRAISER.

I made up the name of the contest, that's all I had. People signed up for it, 26 I think.

I set the entrants up into teams and began blog prompts.. oh yeah, I got the entrants to go out and recruit more entrants.

So I had all these people blogging but then I had to think of a way to make some money (GPs)

I also had to think of a way to eliminate players, which was the hardest part, because how do you get money from an eliminated player?

So I came up with a mini-game, the game with-in the game. "You've Got A Price On Your Head"

Here's how it worked. Any team member could put a price on an opposing team member's head by paying any amount of GPs to the group.

(Thinking back, I should have put limits on this)

If a player puts a price on your head, then you have to pay an equal amount to the group or suffer elimination.

Pretty simple right.

It started out pretty tame, but then all hell broke loose, people started dropping 100,000 and 200,000 price tags. One team thought if they pooled their money and made a large enough price on a player's head they would surely eliminate a player, but the opposing team came up with the saving bounty money, then things went a bit out of control. To the point, fivesixer started to get complaints emailed to him.

We had to stop the game at this point, and I created a Final Bolgapocalypses, which went over pretty good, and at the end of the month, everybody walked away relatively unharmed.

The 30DBC raised nearly 2 million in GP.

I got to run a few more UNOFFICIAL challenge months, but none were quite as profitable as the "You've Got A Price On Your Head" game.

This clip from the Simpsons is a very accurate portrayal of how the bloggers played "You've Got A Price On Your Head"

I remember my ex-sister-in-law, who never supported my writing or any of my other creative endeavors, interrupted a conversation I was having about the elimination challenge with someone else, to ask what I was talking about. After I explained all about it she asked in a very sarcastic tone, "Oh yeah, and how many people are doing that?"

We have twenty-six people playing I said.

She just stood there with her stupid face... haha You can't beat fun!

Play the game.
Everybody play the game.
