Well, it was quite a week in the Premier League. Manchester United was the main topic of discussion among media and fans. After United lost 3-2 to Brighton on Sunday, (Aug. 19), football insiders were quick to criticize the team. Former Liverpool player, Danny Murphy, predicted that Man. U's manager, Jose Mourinho, is not going to last the rest of the season. (read Aug 20 article - "Man. U's Manager's Job Is On The Line"). As the week went on, there was more mud slinging about the team and the players. The latest, the fans plan to fly a banner at this week's game against Burnley, showing their dismay over Ed Woodward and the team's ownership. Now to more positive news. Well, to me that is. My team Chelsea is 2-0 after defeating Arsenal 3-2 on Saturday (Aug 18). I have to say, though, Chelsea was lucky to win the match. The team allowed Arsenal to bounce back from a 2-0 deficit. Chelsea plays Newcastle United this week. Manchester City are on a roll. City hammered newly promoted Huddersfield Town 6-1. Huddersfield are now 0-2 and is dead last in the Premier Division. Good news for France's PSG. Despite not being in the starting line up, Kylian Mbappe scored his first two goals of the new season off the bench against Guingamp. Finally this week, Germany's Bundesliga opens there season this weekend. |
Frustrations Continue For Man. U. November 29, 2018 at 7:06pm The woes continue for Manchester United.
The Red Devils played to a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace, a team Man. U. ought to beat.
What's going on with Newcastle United?
Newcastle defeated Burnley 2-1 on the weekend, winning their third straight game.
Fulham's new manager, Claudio Ranieri, got started on the right foot. His team defeated Southampton 3-2.
Congratulations Claudio.

Immediately, tributes to Drogba poured out from former Chelsea teammates and various managers from all over the Premier League.
Drogba has had a heck of a career.
Drogba, 40, spent nine seasons with Chelsea.
Drogba became the highest scoring African player in English Premier League history with 104 goals in 254 appearances..

The firing of Jokanovic is not surprising to football insiders.
Fulham is at the bottom of the Premier League table.
Fulham has just 1 win in 12 games and has conceded 31 goals this season.
Claudio Ranieri is now Fulham's manager.
The other big story in the Premier League is that Chelsea is facing a two year transfer ban for violating the transfer policy.

Earlier in the week, it was announced that Kevin De Bruyne re-injured his knee and is going to miss four to six weeks. He suffered a knee ligament injury.
De Bruyne is going to miss this weekend's Manchester Derby.
In other Manchester City news, the team hammered Southampton 6-1 last weekend.
Raheem Sterling scored two goals and had an assist for Man. City.
City sits alone on top of the Premier League table.
