| A student studying in Russia says: The highest score for most of the exams in Russia is 5. If a student does not answer any question and returns back his exam paper blank, with no question answered, he gets 2 out of 5. In my first days at the University of Moscow, I did not know about this system and I was surprised and asked Dr. Theodor Medraev: "Is this fair that a student did not answer any question and you give him 2 out of 5? Why not give him a zero ? Isn't that the right way ?" He answered: "How can we give a Human Being a zero ? How can we give him a zero to someone who was getting up at 7 am to attend all the lectures ? How can we give him a zero since he got up in this cold weather, and used public transport and reached to do the exam in time, and tried to solve the questions ? How can we give him a zero for the nights he used to study and spent his money on pens and notebooks and bought a computer for studying ? How can we give him a zero when he left all other life styles and pursued his studies ? Here my son, we do not give a zero to a student just because he did not know the answer. We at least try to respect the fact that this is a Human Being, and he is having a brain, and he tried. Because this result which we give, is not just for the questions in the exam paper, it is also about showing appreciation and respect to the fact that this is a Human Being and deserves to have a score." Truly I cried and did not know how to respond. There I knew my value as a Human Being. Zeros can actually decrease motivation on students, and can quickly destroy them and make them stop caring about their studies altogether. Once a zero score has been put in the grade book, they need no longer care about that subject and they may assume that, there’s nothing they can do about it. Today I tell my story as a message to our teachers, so as to change this shabby system of education which we have in our country. |

It has been proven that our reaction to a situation literally has the power to change the situation itself. Any friendship that was born in the period between 16 and 28 years of age is more likely to be robust and long lasting. In fact, the very opposite is true: the way we communicate has an influence on our mood. The way a person treats restaurant staff reveals a lot about their character. People who have a strong sense of guilt are better at understanding other people’s thoughts and feelings. Depression is the result of over-thinking. The mind creates problems that didn't even exist. Intelligent people are more likely to avoid conflicts, which explains why some people notice everything but choose to say nothing. We are more creative at night and least creative in the afternoon Men are not funnier than women: they just make more jokes, not caring whether other people like their humor or not. The larger your signature, the larger your self esteem. (ahah, agree) Shy people talk little about themselves, but they do this in a way that makes other people feel that they know them very well. Women have twice as many pain receptors on their bodies than men, but they have a much higher pain tolerance. Listening to high-frequency music makes you feel calm, relaxed, and happy. If you can’t stop your stream of thoughts at night, get up and write them down. This will set your mind at ease so you can sleep. If you want to know who is the most important person in the group, notice the one who has the least body movements. You earn respect from elder to younger and you lose people's faith in you from younger to older. No one born blind has ever developed schizophrenia. Human behavioral studies suggest that a person who loses their cell phone experiences a panic similar to near death experience. Good morning and good night text messages activate the part of the brain responsible for happiness. Doing things that scare you will make you happier. The average amount of time a woman can keep a secret is 47 hours and 15 minutes. People who try to keep everyone happy often end up feeling the loneliest. The happier we are, the less sleep we require. When you hold the hand of a loved one, you feel pain less keenly and worry less. Intelligent people tend to have less friends than the average person. The smarter the person is, the more selective they become. Marrying your best friend eliminates the risk of divorce by over 70%, and this marriage is more likely to last a lifetime. Women who have mostly male friends stay in a good mood more often. People who speak two languages may unconsciously shift their personalities when they switch from one language to another. Being alone for a long time is as bad for your health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Travel boosts brain health and also decreases a person’s risk of heart attack and depression. People look more attractive when they speak about the things they are really interested in. When two persons talk to each other and one of them turns their feet slightly away or repeatedly moves one foot in an outward direction, this is a strong sign of disagreement, and they want to leave. The way parents talk to their children becomes the child's inner voice. Dreams are the conversations between you and your subconscious mind |
