*Why many people (including Imran Khan) have become infected with Corona virus after vaccination?*

A doctor friend of mine laments: “I treated thousands of patients with Covid 19 for the last several months. But I was not positive. But after taking the vaccination, I became positive with the virus.”

Accounts like these are not uncommon. Imran khan was vaccinated on a Thursday and became positive with the virus on Saturday. We have heard similar stories about several law makers in India too.

The known facts:

1. The immunity against Covid 19 doesn’t build immediately after the first dose or even immediately after the second. Full fledged immunity takes a few weeks after the second dose.

2. Immunity is not absolute. Even after complete vaccination, a person can get infected. His/her chance of dying or getting a severe infection requiring hospitalisation will be substantially less though.

3. Not all vaccines work to the same extent. The efficacy varies.

4. Not all vaccines are effective against all the variants. A lot of vaccines are less effective against B1.351 (the South African variant), for example.

Now what is this Peltzman effect? And why is it important to know about it?

Peltzman effect means behaviour compensating for the perceived risk. In other terms, people become more careful when they sense greater risk and less careful if they feel more protected.

This means that vaccines are giving a sense of security which leads to a increased risky behaviour.

But the problem is that while vaccines neither give immediate protection or full protection (against infection as against death), the sense of security unfortunately starts much earlier, even before the actual injection. And Peltzman effect comes into play: people wear masks with less caution, do not maintain distance as soon as they reach vaccination centres.

The Peltzman effect in fact started for most people even before they took the vaccine. Many people felt protected just looking at the vaccination numbers. The mask usage, social distancing and hand sanitisation have become progressively less. While this is attributed mainly to pandemic fatigue, the Peltzman effect cannot be ignored.

While this behaviour is dangerous for general public, this can be disastrous for health care workers who directly deal with Covid 19 patients. A lot of them can get infected in the present second wave impairing the health care services.

The Peltzman effect is also evident in the drastic decline in the usage of PPE kits by the healthcare workers.

It is important to vaccinate the majority of the people at risk. But it is also important to be aware of Peltzman effect and be more careful until the effect of vaccination takes us close to herd immunity.

Here is a definite instance where spreading awareness will save lives.
*Peltzman Effect*

The Peltzman Effect is the net-zero effect on overall safety between the presence of safety precautions and people’s tendency to be less cautious in their presence.

PARENTS' HOUSE

*The Parents' house* (father and Mothērs house)
*It's the only house* where you can go to dozens of times without an invitation.
*The only house* where you can put the key in the door and enter directly.
*The house* that has loving eyes that stare at the Đoor until they see you.
*The house* which reminds you of your care free days, stability and your happiness during your Chîldhood.
*The house* in which your presence and look at your mother’s and father’s faces is for you a bliss and your conversation with them is a reward.
*The house* that if you do not go, the hearts of its owners will shrink, and if you hurt them, they will be angry.
*The house* in which two candles were burnt to light up the world and fill your life with håppinēss and joy.
*The house* where the dining table is pure for you and has no hypocrisy.
*the house* that if the food time arrives and you don't eat, the hearts of its owners will be broken and annoyed.
*The house* that offers you all the laughs and Håppinēss.

*Ôh Chîldrēn*, find out the value of these houses before it's too late.

*Lucky are those who have their parents house to go to.*

"The world of men has forgotten the joys of silence,
the peace of solitude, which is necessary, to some extent,
for the fullness of human living.
Man cannot be happy for long
unless he is in contact with the springs of spiritual life
which are hidden in the depths of his own soul.
If man is exiled constantly from his own home,
locked out of his spiritual solitude,
he ceases to be a true person."

What if an Indian had written this... Would anyone have believed?

Though I have lived in India for a long time, there are still issues here that I find hard to understand. For example, why do so many educated Indians become agitated when India is referred to as a Hindu country? The majority of Indians are Hindus.

India is special because of its ancient Hindu tradition. Westerners are drawn to India because of Hinduism. Why then is there this resistance by many Indians to acknowledge the Hindu roots of their country?

Why do some people even give the impression that an India which valued those roots would be dangerous? Don’t they know better?

This attitude is strange for two reasons. First, those educated Indians seem to have a problem only with “Hindu” India, but not with “Muslim” or “Christian” countries. Germany, for example, is a secular country, and only 59 percent of the population are registered with the two big Christian churches (Protestant and Catholic).

Nevertheless, the country is bracketed under “Christian countries” and no one objects. Angela Merkel, the Chancellor, stressed recently the Christian roots of Germany and urged the population “to go back to Christian values.”

In 2012 she postponed her trip to the G-8 summit to make a public address on Katholikentag, “Catholics Day.” Two major political parties carry Christian in their name, including Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union.

Germans are not agitated that Germany is called a Christian country, though I actually would understand if they were. After all, the history of the Church is appalling. The so-called success story of Christianity depended greatly on tyranny.

“Convert or die” were the options given—not only some five hundred years ago to the indigenous population in America, but also in Germany, 1,200 years ago, when the emperor Karl the Great ordered the death sentence for refusal of baptism in his newly conquered realms. This provoked his advisor Alkuin to comment: “One can force them to baptism, but how to force them to believe?”

Those times, when one’s life was in danger for dissenting with the dogmas of Christianity, are thankfully over. Today many in the West do dissent and are leaving the Church in a steady stream.

They are disgusted with the less-than-holy behavior of Church officials and they also can’t believe in the dogmas, for example that “Jesus is the only way” and that God sends all those who don’t accept this to hell.

The second reason why I can’t understand the resistance to associate India with Hinduism is that Hinduism is in a different category from the Abrahamic religions.

Its history, compared to Christianity and Islam, was undoubtedly the least violent as it spread in ancient times by convincing arguments and not by force. It is not a belief system that demands blind acceptance of dogmas and the suspension of one’s intelligence.

On the contrary, Hinduism encourages using one’s intelligence to the hilt. It is an enquiry into truth based on a refined character and intellect.

It comprises a huge body of ancient literature, not only regarding dharma and philosophy, but also regarding music, architecture, dance, science, astronomy, economics, politics, etc.

If Germany or any other Western country had this kind of literary treasure, it would be so proud and highlight its greatness on every occasion.

When I discovered the Upanishads, for example, I was stunned. Here was expressed in clear terms what I intuitively had felt to be true, but could not have expressed clearly.

Brahman is not partial; it is the invisible, indivisible essence in everything. Everyone gets again and again a chance to discover the ultimate truth and is free to choose his way back to it. Helpful hints are given but not imposed.

In my early days in India I thought every Indian knew and valued his tradition. Slowly I realized I was wrong. The British colonial masters had been successful in not only weaning away many of the elite from their ancient tradition but even making them despise it.

It helped that the British-educated class could no longer read the original Sanskrit texts and believed what the British told them. This lack of knowledge and the brainwashing by the British education may be the reason why many so-called “modern” Indians are against anything Hindu.

They don’t realize the difference between Western religions that have to be believed (or at least professed) blindly, and which discourage, if not forbid, their adherents to think on their own, and the multi-layered Hindu Dharma which gives freedom and encourages using one’s intelligence.

Many of the Indian educated class do not realize that those who dream of imposing Christianity or Islam on this vast country will applaud them for denigrating Hindu Dharma, because this creates a vacuum where Western ideas can easier gain a foothold.

At the same time, many Westerners, including staunch Christians, know the value of Hindu culture and surreptitiously appropriate insights from the vast Indian knowledge system, drop the original Hindu source and present it either as their own or make it look as if these insights had already been known in the West. As the West appropriates valuable and exclusive Hindu assets, what it leaves behind is deemed inferior.

Unwittingly, these Indians are helping what Rajiv Malhotra of Infinity Foundation calls the digestion of Dharma civilization into Western universalism. That which is being digested, a deer for example, in this case Hindu Dharma, disappears whereas the digester (a tiger) becomes stronger.

If only missionaries denigrated Hindu Dharma, it would not be so bad, as they clearly have an agenda which discerning Indians would detect.

But sadly, Indians with Hindu names assist them because they wrongly believe Hinduism is inferior to Western religions. They belittle everything Hindu instead of getting thorough knowledge.

As a rule, they know little about their tradition except what the British have told them, i.e., that the major features are the caste system and idol worship.

They don’t realize that India would gain, not lose, if it solidly backed its profound and all-inclusive Hindu tradition.

The Dalai Lama said some time ago that, as a youth in Lhasa, he had been deeply impressed by the richness of Indian thought. “India has great potential to help the world,” he added.

When will the Westernized Indian elite realize it?

The on-duty nurse took the anxious young Army Major to the bedside.

"Your son is here," she said softly, to the old man lying there on the bed.

She had to repeat the words several times before the patient's eyes opened.

Heavily sedated because of the pain of his heart attack, he dimly saw the young uniformed Major standing outside the oxygen tent.

He reached out his hand.

The Major wrapped his toughened fingers around the old man's limp ones, squeezing a message of love and encouragement.

The nurse, observing the touching moments, brought a chair so that the Major could sit beside the bed.

"Thank you Ma'am!" a polite acknowledgement followed.

All through the night, the young Major sat there in the poorly lit ward, holding the old man's hand and offering him words of love and strength. Occasionally, the nurse suggested that the officer move away and rest awhile.

He graciously refused.

Whenever the nurse came into the ward, he was oblivious of her and of the night noises of the hospital - the clanking of the oxygen tank, the laughter of the night staff members exchanging greetings, the cries and moans of the other patients.

Now and then she heard him say a few gentle words. The dying man said nothing, only held tightly to his son all through the night.

Along towards dawn, the old man died. The Major released the now lifeless hand he had been holding and went to tell the nurse.

While she did what she had to do, he waited...

Finally, she returned & started to offer words of sympathy, but the Major interrupted her

"Who was that man?" he asked.

The nurse was startled, "He was your father," she answered.

"No, he wasn't," the Major replied. "I never saw him before in my life."

"Then why didn't you say something when I took you to him?"

"I knew right away there had been a mistake, but I also knew he needed his son, and his son just wasn't here!"

The nurse listened on, confused.

"When I realized that he was too sick to tell whether or not I was his son, knowing how much he needed me, I stayed."

"So then what was the purpose of your visit here, at the hospital, Sir?", the nurse queried of him.

"I came here tonight to find a Mr. Vikram Salaria. His son was Killed in J&K last night, and I was sent to inform him."

'But the man whose hand you kept holding whole night was Mr. Vikram Salaria!'

They stood in complete silence. There couldn't be anything more assuring for a dying man than his son's hand !!

The next time someone needs you ... just be there & Just stay !!!

A Bengali, a Punjabi, a Gujarati and a hardcore leftist Keralite were reluctant to take the Covid-19 vaccine.
The Doctor called them in one by one.

He told the *Bengali* , “You must take your vaccine.”
The Bengali said “no“.
The Doctor said, “Every cultured and civilised man takes the vaccine.”
The Bengali took his vaccine.

Then the Punjabi came in.
The Doctor said, “Here is your vaccine.“
Punjabi said No.
The Doctor said, “Your neighbours have all taken the vaccine “.
So the Punjabi took the vaccine.

Then the Gujarati came in.
The Doctor said, “Take your vaccine.”
Gujarati said “No”.
And the Doctor said: “it’s an order from Prime Minister Modi.”
The Gujarati took his vaccine.

Finally the Keralite came in.
The Doctor said “take your vaccine.”
Keralite said, “No.”
The Doctor said, “Every cultured and civilised man takes the vaccine.”
The Keralite said, “Go away, I will never take the vaccine.”
The Doctor then said,
“All your neighbours have taken it.”
The Keralite replied, “I don’t care.”
The Doctor, now desperate, said,
“It’s an order from Prime Minister Modi”.
The Keralite replied “Po Mone Modi.”

Finally the Doctor asked,
“Which state are you from?”
The Keralite said, “I am from Kerala.”
The Doctor said, “Oh sorry, you are not *entitled* to have the vaccine.”
The Keralite said, “What!!? Who are you to tell me that I cannot have the vaccine? How dare you deny me my fundamental rights! Give me the vaccine or I will protest outside your clinic!”
The doctor gladly gave him the vaccine and the Mallu proudly took it and said to his comrades I fought and got the vaccination.

Our beautiful India...😍

My Wife felt exhausted. She was irritable and grumpy, until one day, suddenly, she changed.

One day when I said to her:
- I'm going to have a few beers with friends.
She replied: Okay.

My son said to her:
- I'm doing poorly in all subjects in college.

My Wife replied:
- Okay, you will recover, and if you don't, you repeat the semester, but you pay the tuition.

My daughter said to her:
- I smashed the car.

My Wife replied:
- Okay, take it to the car shop & get it fixed.

All of us were worried to see these reactions coming from mom.

We suspected that she had gone to the doctor and was prescribed some pills called "I don't give a damn”.

We then proposed to do an "intervention" with my wife to remove her from any possible addiction she had towards some anti-tantrum medication.

But then She gathered us around her and explained:

"It took me a long time to realize that each person is responsible for their life. It took me years to discover that my anguish, anxiety, my depression, my courage, my insomnia & my stress, does not solve your problems but aggravates mine.

I am not responsible for the actions of anyone and it’s not my job to provide happiness.

Therefore, I came to the conclusion that my duty to myself is to remain calm and let each one of you solve what corresponds to you.

I have taken courses in yoga, meditation, miracles, human development, mental hygiene, vibration and neurolinguistic programming and in all of them, I found a common denominator.

I can only control myself, you have all the necessary resources to solve your own problems despite how hard they may be. My job is to PRAY for you, LOVE you, ENCOURAGE you, but it’s up to YOU to solve them and find your happiness.

I can only give you my advice if you ask me and it depends on you to follow it or not. There are consequences, good or bad, to your decisions and YOU have to live with them.”

Everyone at home was speechless.

From that day on, the family began to function better because everyone in the house knew exactly what it is that they needed to do!

TRUST YOURSELF -

1. " LAUGH - Even when you feel too sick or too worn out or tired.
SMILE - Even when you're trying not to cry and the tears are blurring your vision.
SING - Even when people stare at you and tell you your voice is crappy.
TRUST - Even when your heart begs you not to.
FROLICK - Even when you are made fun of.
KISS - Even when others are watching.
SLEEP - Even when you're afraid of what the dreams might bring.
RUN - Even when it feels like you can't run any more.

And ALWAYS REMEMBER, Even when the memories pinch your heart. Because the pain of all your experience is what makes you the person you are now. And without your experience---you are an Empty Page, a Blank Notebook, a Missing Lyric.
.
What makes you BRAVE is your Willingness to LIVE THROUGH your life and Hold your Head UP HIGH the next day. So Don't live LIFE in fear. Because you are stronger now, after all the crap has happened, than you ever were back before it started.”

2. " TRUST that everything happens for a Reason, even if we are not wise enough to see it.........".

3. " You have to FORGIVE People. We don't have to like them, we don't have to be friends with them, we don't have to send them hearts in text messages, but we HAVE TO Forgive them, to Overlook, to Forget. Because if We Don't, we are tying rocks to our feet, Too much for our wings TO CARRY.......".

SO TRUE..........
