We live much of life amid unique choices. Joy is anchored in The One beyond our life.
There are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more alone, waiting upon God, and gathering through meditation on His Word spiritual strength for labour in his service. We ought to muse upon the things of God, because we thus get the real nutriment out of them. . . . Why is it that some Christians, although they hear many sermons, make but slow advances in the divine life? Because they neglect their closets, and do not thoughtfully meditate on God's Word. They love the wheat, but they do not grind it; they would have the corn, but they will not go forth into the fields to gather it; the fruit hangs upon the tree, but they will not pluck it; the water flows at their feet, but they will not stoop to drink it. From such folly deliver us, O Lord. . . .
― Charles Spurgeon

Our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strengths.
― C. H. Spurgeon

Hope itself is like a star- not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity.
― Charles Haddon Spurgeon

If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.
― Charles Spurgeon

A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.
― Charles Spurgeon

Visit many good books, but live in the Bible.
― Charles Spurgeon

When your will is God's will, you will have your will.
― Charles Spurgeon

New Year's Eve, so bold and bright.
New Year's Eve, we change tonight.
Watching for one number new.
12 more months of things to do.

If The Lord doth give us leave,
by His Hand we will achieve.
If The Lord doth say us, "Stay,"
we'll wait on His Grand Face today.

We will do or we'll forbare
for all of life is by His Care.
Much good we hope we'll do and serve
by Grace, since Hell we do deserve.

Never think we strong enough
to by our power His Goodness bluff,
but think of Grace, that gives us pow'r
to stand for Him in ev'ry hour.

This New Year Happy, let's embrace.
Each day we spend in His Dear Grace.
When New Year's Eve we live, again,
let's thank Him for what He did win.

Filaments thread the darkened sky.
Thunder grumbles low.
Storm clouds of this year go by.
There's a new to know.

Attic boxes shoved make noise.
Thunder up above.
Off and on like light switch toys
the lightning shows His Love.

Crickets fiddle, "It's okay.
Got no worries here.
Just the Master's music plays,
washing air so clear."

Silence covers darkened skies,
but for insect calls.
"Where's the rain?" Await replies.
Wisdom covers all.

Sudden. When we least expect
the rain will heavy fall.
Nothing earthly can deflect
The Lord's great Judgment squall.

Future comes in breaths we breathe.
Future comes with every beat of the heart.
Future comes, none can deceive.
Future comes with all the new we start.

Future moves us toward the goal.
Future sees a time will come
when Time is gone, but Now is whole.
Future Now is aye the sum.

Future fades when Now is all.
Future then will coalesce
with Past and Present by the Call
of He, Whose Life alone can bless.

Future brings a Happy New Year.
Future here a day of Grace.
Future when we're past all fear
reveals the Greatest Human Face.

Future is a vast unknown
to those of us, who breathe this air.
Heed the warning, Future's tone
is fragranced by The One, Who's fair.

Doing chores may seem to be
a thankless task and time.
Wash each dish there is to see,
keeping clothes so prime.

Help the child to grow up well,
daily things to do.
When they're older time will tell,
reflect they do on you.

Life is filled with things and deeds,
that we'd rather not,
but we do all by our creeds
as we know we ought.

Christmas season's wondrous bliss
place we in a box.
Thoughts of tender joys, each kiss
wakes to washing socks.

On this Earth, we live each day,
doing what we can.
And fore'er we're His display.
His task, His Grace by plan.

Moments of peace amid the fur
Sit and wait, sniff and purr.
“You’re my friend,” or lightning claws
make you stop in quickness pause.

“Welcome to my stately home.
Pay the price, and you may come.
Drink your coffee. Watch me pounce.
Life I have by pound and ounce.”

The twinkly lights are quite a plus.
Move real slow. There’s not a fuss.
Move real fast, the tail’s a blur.
“Your blood is red. I’m doctor, Sir.”

“Watch the clock. When time is up,
then you must leave, and go to sup.
The sun will set, and night will come,
Return, again, to visit some.”

Christmas: O'er, but not forgot,
always needed, hits the spot.
Bless-ed day to praise the Lord,
Chosen Lamb, Incarnate Word.

The after day, great truth we know.
We praise Him all these days below.
We joy to seek his Presence here,
to give our best, and then it's clear.

What can't we do with Christmas past?
He came on a mission ever vast.
He gives us Hope and hearts a flight.
He gives us Day, that knows no night.

To Christmas music e'er we list.
We seek His face in times like this.
We know His grace and lay down fear.
He comes we know. Our ears they hear.

Each Christmas writ on leaves of Time,
forever held in Hands Sublime.
Each moment's Christmas through the Day.
Christmas carols always play.

Christmas Day is here, again,
filled with love and care.
Time with family's aye a win,
wondrous hope to share.

Christmas Day is here to show
why we dare to live
because the Savior born to grow
died and rose to give.

Christmas Day comes once a year,
but Jesus came to stay,
Salvation's cross is free and clear.
His Father's Plan obeyed.

Christmas Day remembers most,
that Jesus came to Earth
to pay our debt, and be our Host
to give us His Own Worth.

Christmas Day is leaving soon,
but Jesus never will.
His Victory has Sin now hewn,
believers' lasting thrill.

Happy Christmas Eve, my friends,
a-waiting for the birth
of He, Who died, and rose again
to give us lasting worth.

Happy Christmas Eve in Joy
to live and worship best
The One, Whose Blood, our soul's envoy
defeats the greatest test.

Happy Christmas Eve we pause
to contemplate The One,
Whose coming is the lasting cause
of Hope, God's Only Son.

Happy Christmas Eve, Dear Lord!
Our Blessing is Your Name.
You are the Truth of Your Dear Word.
We're ever glad you came.

Happy Christmas Eve, O Babe,
Who laid in swaddling clothes,
reminding of myrrh strips obeyed.
Unbound, the third day rose.

Another eve like the string before,
quite nondescript as evenings go,
but still the darkness can't implore
a nothingness of naught to know.

An eve of nothing special to do,
but sip a cup, hot chocolate's bliss,
and when the day is finally through,
reflect upon the good of this.

Some nights just stand, attend the great
as humans do when greatness comes,
but these were born, it seems of late
to fill the coffers' noble sums.

Foundation plants may seem unseen,
and twinkling lights may hang and glow,
but plants of color, only green
enhance the property for show.

The colorful lights around the post
show Hope's enduring warm effect.
The ones we must remember most
are those, whose work we might neglect.

Wondrous sun, a Christmas day
as we wait and think.
Blessings here to joy display
as we sip our drink.

Coffee in the coffee shop,
tea at the breakfast bar.
Buying Christmas 'til we drop
in sunshine or by star.

Christmas, nearly over now.
What to do beyond?
Maybe sit, and soak, and bow,
and to the Lord respond.

Christmas is not just one day,
that's o'er when Giftwrap piles.
Believers keep it on display.
This Babe with hope-filled smiles.

Christmas lives within the heart.
The Christ has found an home.
Salvation is His Plan's blest start.
We need not e'ermore roam.
