People here in the United States were warned about climate change years ago. Our Vice President in 1993, Al Gore, was an environmentalist. He talked incessantly about the issue warning something needed to be done to avoid destroying our planet. People laughed at him denying there was any such problem. He was right, they were wrong. I need to answer this prompt if I have time today. Have a good one!

59 years is incredible.

I can't imagine a love that intense either. And I'm very much in love with my husband. It's my second marriage, we've been together 20 years and married 16 years. If I had foolishly stayed in my first marriage it would have been 50 years. I left him before our 30th.

I've read a lot of his sonnets and wondered the same thing about the woman. I didn't realize there were 100 of them Kåre Enga in Udon Thani

that's a lot of mushy stuff.

There are different types of love. Her in the western colony we obsess with romantic/sexual love. The sex, however, must never be directly shown; we're cultural prudes.

Neruda wrote 100 sonnets for his future wife.

I mostly love (pine) from afar.

I wonder how many sonnets Neruda wrote. She must have been quite a gal!
Love is such a complex concept. What is love? The oft asked question to which no one has an answer. Would it be to sacrifice oneself to save another? I can accept a parent might do that to save a child. However that reminds me of the time I caught my ten year old son poking a lighted stick into a jerry can of petrol. I screamed, “don’t do that!” And I ran from the garage! So much for a mother’s love.

I believe Neruda was writing sonnets to his wife; although, I don't doubt your viewpoint. I remember falling in love 57 years ago. I was 14. But 'love' has never gotten me anywhere, other than helping me survive.

My husband tells me that I'm pessimistic too, but I believe realism is more like it.

Happy 20th Birthday, WDC!

I know this is cheesy, but I have to do it... In your entry today, write about what you love about Writing.Com. How have you grown as a writer? How are you (as a writer) different from how you were when you first joined this site? Thank the members who helped you get where you are today.

Thanks for giving me an excuse to talk about WdC. I can honestly say joining this group of like minded people, from all over the world, changed my life for the better.
I knew I wanted to write and I belonged to a small community group of creative writers but they weren’t enough. I wasn’t getting the feedback I needed. Searching on line for ‘something’, not sure what, I came across WdC. Cautiously, I signed up, wondering if the site could be trusted. I was unsure.
Struggling to make sense of all the coding, I joined The Rockin Reviewers and with the help and patience from Hannah ♫♥♫

I began to navigate my way around the site. I’m still learning and yesterday with the help from northernwrites I embedded a GIF!
It was three years ago this month since I first joined. I’ve averaged adding one story a week to my portfolio since that time, entered numerous contests and received constructive, helpful advice and feedback.
I feel as if I’m a part of a special group of people, they all have the same desire which is to find the perfect prose. We all know what it feels like to be happy with what we’ve written, that feeling which tells you that it’s right. Also we know the frustration of getting the thoughts, which swirl around in our heads, out, and into a form which makes perfect sense to the reader.
Reading other’s work and sending reviews has been one way which has helped my own writing enormously too. I only wish I had started writing much sooner than I did, but better late than never.
