A collection of flash fiction for the Musicology Anthology Contest. |

This collection of stories began as a writing challenge in 2019. The challenge is over, but I have decided to continue and plan to write a story for each title of a chosen music album. Each story will be inspired by the lyrics and music mood of each song in the album. The stories will use the song titles as their title. I had a large collection of music to choose from in my personal library. I wanted an album that would inspire me with strong emotions, the beginnings of a story I might flesh out, and music that would carry me through the story. Naturally, I thought of Garth Brooks. I've been to many of his concerts and always have his albums on my mp3 player. My plan is to write science fiction or fantasy flash fictions inspired by each song of his "Fresh Horses" album. There are eleven songs in the album which is plenty to do along with my other projects. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the stories! If you happen on this book and want to do a review of the stories, you are welcome to do so, but please check to see if there is a story first. I have created placeholders for all the stories (since the contest asks that I name the story with the song title) so I have the inspiration lyrics available as I write. The lyrics are not part of the story and should not be reviewed, they are copyrighted to the original artist, in this case, Mr. Brooks! |
