I've written many books myself before but if you want, you can hire writers, ghost writers to write the content for you and you can operate more as a publishing company where you're the one that's publishing the book. That's doing the marketing for it in the same way. How you might also leverage yourself by hiring a graphic designer to design the cover for your book. You can leverage a lot of those pieces and you can do it in a very inexpensive way. I'll explain a lot of those things for you because this is one of my best business models. I got started with Kindle publishing about 5 to 6 years ago, quite a long time and I had done a lot of online business internet marketing before that time but I didn't really make much money doing it. I was kind of largely dabbling around, you know I was trying so many things. When I started to be consistent, I began to see the result of patience and the story became more fascinating when I got into Kindle publishing that I had my big break and it was the first time I ever made $50,000 in a year, five-figure income and for me that was a life-changing thing and you know throughout the last six or seven years, I've gone through a lot of ups and downs. I had to think differently that this is a business model and then learned how I could remove myself from it by building a team that can run it for me. I was able to figure out exactly what works and what doesn't work for me and also, I think a big mistake a lot of people make and I did make it too. The mistake is that initially, when I was building my publishing business I was utilizing a lot of tactics, a lot of gimmicks, a lot of things that were just short term solutions and I've had many books that stopped selling ups and downs that went through the this business model and to this day I still make a lot of money from the books that I've published years ago but it's because of the mindset I had towards it and the strategy that I implemented and utilized that works even until today and will continue to work in the future. Guys, there are approaches to any business. Business models have strategies and unique methods of scaling it up. If you’re putting all your efforts, resources and energy in a business, you want to make sure it really works the way it should even a long-term money generating business. It's not just to make some short-term money, it's not something that's going to make you money for the next few months and then die off because for almost all of us, our goal is to build a sustainable income, a passive inflow income so that you can quit your job and depend on it full-time or that you have money that you could pay some of your bills, and be able to invest or save some of that money to build multiple businesses. As long as Amazon still remains as the number one book retailer in the world, last time I checked statistics, Amazon is grows large everyday and the CEO, Jeff Bezos keeps growing too even to the number one richest man in the world and you know books and eBooks aren't going away so when you understand the right strategy, you will constantly push forward to grow big. Please don't think this is any sort of get rich quick business model or anything like that because any business, anything of value that you're going to build in your life will definitely require hard work time, dedication and patience. When I first got started into trying to make money online and build an online business, I didn't really care about the fact that I was building a business. All I wanted was to make an extra hundred bucks probably in a month and maybe a couple thousand dollars a month. This was my initial intension and you know for me that would change my life you know because that was how I was thinking. I thought so low then and it wasn’t my fault anyways. As a matter of fact, publishing is a great business model where you could easily scale to six to seven figure when you do it the right way. There are a lot of people who had gone even go to a million dollars a year for just publishing books and you know, their audience are all over the globe but when you really want to hit this target, you have to publish a lot of books. I mean a huge number of books. This remains one of the best ways I think for a lot of people that just want to make a couple of extra income a month or even a couple thousand of dollars a month and I'll share with you and to implement this method. Many at times, complexity is the enemy of execution. The more complex we make things look like, the less likely we are to actually implement it and take action. Anything you want to sell online be it physical or digital products, you just have to make it unique. Amazon publishing platform allows two ways of publishing. One is KDP paperback for print format and Kindle eBook such as epub and mobi for ebook format. Any of these formats is good to read but most people that read today prefer The kindle eBook is known as an e-reader that can allow you to be able to buy books from on Amazon, download it straight to your kindle reader. I actually prefer this more than paperback books because it’s easy and flexible to do and there's huge market for it. People don't have to have a book in their house, they don't have to you know, pay for shipping or anything like that. Therefore, Kindle is something that's been growing year after year and it's a great opportunity for us to be able to publish books on something like that so that people can download and read them conveniently. The important things that matter when you're publishing a book on Amazon is that, firstly, the niche or market that you're publishing the book is oftentimes matter, and a lot of people make a big mistake about this. In other business models, or even with publishing, they think they have this amazing idea that they want to write a book or they have this amazing idea for a product that everybody would love to put interest in, and they spent all this time creating it and then when they finally put it in the market, they find that it's not just the same and sell. You know it's very hard for them to make money from it and oftentimes it's because they did things in the wrong way. Anybody can be in this shoe. Most times, what I do is that, I first had to identify new research on the market of what's selling on Amazon. What people are searching for because Amazon itself is a search engine on its own. It's one of the biggest search engine in the world where people go and type in a keywords on anything they want. I might even type in Bitcoin or cryptocurrency and search for it and you know that's how often a lot of people are buying books not unless they know a specific title of what book they want or the author or whatever that might be. Therefore, with that being said, as a publisher you can't try to reinvent the wheel or create a new market from scratch, you've got to identify what people are searching for, what's hot, what's selling, what's making money. There's ways that you can research that and see how well certain books are selling and how well they're doing as well as even looking at the bigger picture because you're going to get started with your online business on Amazon. Some other mistakes many make these days is that, think about Kindle and Amazon and they're not thinking about the niche they're going into. The market they want to be in that can allow them to do affiliate marketing to create other streams of income and build a brand around it. Therefore, doing this research first is the most important thing you got to find out. The demand, what people are searching for. What is it the problem that your book can solve because often times people buy especially non-fiction books to solve a specific problem or to gain more insights. Your book has to meet the needs and the demands of the market. Therefore, doing the proper research is very important because you could publish a book in a niche or market that there's no demand for it and I don't care how great you think your book is, it can be an amazing book but if you're trying to market and sell it but nobody really wants it then you're going to have a hard time. Amazon is a unique marketplace. There's going to be certain topics that you will sell a lot better than others and that's why the research is always very important. And doing research is very important once you've identified the nature of the market, you can publish your book. Optimizing your book keywords is very crucial. Specific keywords when someone searches for that, then they can find your book so knowing the keywords is very important and once you've identified that, you're going to create the title and just really think about how you're going to position that book in that market. Standing out as a great seller, you would want a better cover, a uniquely design cover as you all know that covers have more impact on the movement of a book. Good title that offers different benefits and it solves a better and different problems or better than anything else maybe has more tips or more information that other books might not have. It could even be through the marketing by having more reviews than other books out there maybe it's offering a bonus maybe it offers a bonus audio or video that can go along with your book that no one else is really doing. That shows that you're giving more value to your customers and your potential buyers than anyone else. You can also stand out when you're building a brand in that niche and you're building a relationship with people and your marketing in other ways outside of Amazon that no one else is really marketing. Think more about that before you start thinking of publishing a book. The more time that you prep and prepare for that, the more of an advantage that you're going to have. As you all know that a book title is very important and then as well as the quality of the book, the design around it. When it comes to creating the book, it's something that you could write yourself. Even if you can’t write your book yourself, you can hire freelance ghostwriter to do that for you. Elon Musk or Donald Trump don’t actually have time to sit and start writing their own books, no, they have ghostwriters who are writing the books for them. You could also even hire writers just to pay them to be able to create a book on a specific topic for you. They can do all the research for it. They have the level of expertise that you might not be able to have and they can write a book for you that's quality, that's going to add value to people that you could then own the rights to and be able to publish on Amazon and other publishing websites. You would also need the expertise of a graphic designer to design a unique cover for you or images or banners for you or you might hire a web designer to design a website for you. You are basically paying them to create something for you then you own the rights to it. It's a similar process that you can do and I mentioned quality is important. Your book has to be something that when someone reads it, they're going to be better off for it and it's going to ideally yield a positive review that when someone consumes the book they enjoy they're going to leave positive review on Amazon or other publishing platforms for you. When your book and covers are ready, set up a Kindle direct publishing account known as KDP. It’s free and easy to set up. You can as well hire a publisher to help you self-publish your book. They know how to do all the big works in there and fix any issue whatsoever. You’ll have full access to the account. Please make sure the book of course is formatted properly for Kindle and for paperback before you even think of creating account okay. Once you hit the publish button, your book will be live on Amazon available for sale within 24 to 48 hours after it has been reviewed. This is really pretty remarkable compared to a lot of other businesses where I can take months just to be able to launch a product on Amazon or on a certain platform now this is just the basics of this and there's obviously a lot more that can go to different strategies but again I want to simplify it. Marketing strategy These are the main basic things that you need to know. Once you have your book and it's published, and they're on Amazon, it's available for sale and when someone buys it, Amazon will pay you a royalty from that up to 70% royalty on that book and you can set it up so that money gets direct deposited into your bank account. Please note that, it's not enough just to have a book up there on Amazon. You have to promote it. You have to market it and this is what a lot of people forget. They think that Amazon is just going to do everything for them and you can understand they will do a lot for you but it's up to you to still promote and sell your book and if you get traction on Amazon that's where you can get a huge compounding effect where Amazon will promote your book for you and they'll rank it high up in their search results. They'll recommend the book to other customers and they can really take off and that's how it can really blow up for you and you can really make a lot of money from it. Therefore, it’s as important as the book is the marketing just as important. Marketing is very crucial and it’s a must for you to do to see your book skyrocketing. Marketing and promotion is the real deal that will allow you to really be able to make a significant amount of money from your business online. There's a lot of books out there that are great books that nobody knows about. Nobody buys them because a lot of authors unfortunately are really bad marketers. They're very skilled at maybe writing but they have no idea how to market and that's where you come in. That's why this is one of the most important skills that will allow you to make money and the beautiful thing about this is that, it’s transferable to any other business that you wish to go into. This is why this is a great business model because the marketing skills you learn in one business can help you make money with affiliate marketing. It can help you make money with physical product on Amazon. It can help you to make money with drone courses products services whatever it is that you want to sell online. This is what you really have to learn. Once you have your book published and it's optimized for a keyword then it's not going to rank in Amazon and it's not going to really make you money. On Amazon, there's really two ways you can market your products. One is through Amazon search. The search engine that identifies the right keywords that allows you to rank your product. Utilize it functions and search for the keywords that are less competitive in your niche relating to your product. These keywords will help you to build a good chance of ranking high on Amazon and the same is applicable to any other businesses. Marketing outside Amazon is also a great and even better way of pushing your products directly to your interested customers. Marketing outside Amazon gives you a huge advantage. When you know how to market outside of Amazon, it will be better but it often takes time however, wait for it. The thing I will talk about next is PPC which is pay-per-click advertising that's on Amazon's platform. They have sponsored ads that enables you to actually pay Amazon and have Amazon listing your book to show up on other people's book listings or other parts of Amazon and even in the search and when someone clicks on the ad Amazon charges you for that but that's a way that you can get some traffic, some traffic to your Amazon listing to sell your book and get sales that way too. As a matter of fact, that does cost money thought. It’s actually parts of using money to make money. It's a great way even just to get a boost because the more sales that you get, more sales velocity then better ways your books going to rank on Amazon in the search. If you want to push it to greater a height, go outside Amazon. In fact, this is what Amazon wants you to do. Amazon wants you to go out there and build Amazon. They want you to promote your Amazon products on Facebook, on your blogs and websites. More on this marketing and promotion, go on social media and build your audience. This is a great way to direct free customers to your Amazon products. Have a Facebook fan page in the niche that you're in, it could also be a Facebook group or it could even be ads you can run ads on Facebook and oftentimes when you're running ads, you do pay per click advertising. You usually want to build an email list first because the email list allows you to email the people that opt-in to be able to sell your book to them. Do the same with Instagram and Twitter even also on YouTube. Make sure you maximize all the social media potentials to market your book. And once you’re stable and customers keep purchasing your products, you will enjoy it. Social media helps you to build your business. Social media is building that relationship, try investing into it by creating content and sharing and getting to know them. Build that trust that makes it so much easier to sell your products and that's a huge advantage that you can have over everyone else. Therefore, Facebook is powerful of course there's Instagram, there's Twitter and you also have LinkedIn and YouTube. Blogs and websites is a great aspect to consider too. If you have a blog and you're creating content, you're actually publishing on that blog and people you know can find it in the search engines because search engine optimization is really powerful if your blog or website can rank in Google then people consume the content easily and they will have to visit your website to see the full details of what you’re talking about. SEO, search engine optimization is very powerful blog and website ranking point and you know even press releases, there's so many ways that you can market online and you know when it comes to building your business all you got to do is pick one or two first and learn it, master it. Using all these strategies, you know you're building a brand. You're building a business. You're building something that's going to attract people to you, that you can then funnel and to sell your book or get people on your email list and build that relationship with them even further. You definitely can’t go below email list, you got to build a list, email marketing is very powerful and there's many different approaches to it. You can decide to do free giveaway promotion to your audience and customers and when they get it for free and it’s unique, they will always want to hear from you. Try and let your brand solid and make sure it’s a lasting target. Use the same method to promote other people’s products and get commission for it. It is called affiliate marketing and we’ve already discussed it earlier. With your email lists, you’d be able to sell anything anytime to your customers and they’ll want to pick interest in it because you’re recommending it. You can even help other businesses to promote their products. Owners of businesses will definitely contact you for business promotion because it’d be obvious that you’re doing great in your business. Amazon Kindle publishing can be like the Gateway it's like the gateway business that can lead into a lot of other businesses. Make sure you start well. |
