Thank you. I haven't heard that song in ages.

It did get me thinking though. The Beatles trip to America (la reconquista?), George's interest in South Asia (and 'strange' instruments like the sitar), John's relationship with Oko... all very new and strange at the time. England was just opening up.

As for DJT. America loves being scammed.

You can drop 'the cost' at the end of line 5. (line's a tad long)
Yes, he-who-should-not-be-named really won't face himself and admit that he might, just might, be wrong. (line 8)
I don't think of the courts as belonging to Biden (no suggestion as to what word to replace it)...
...and I really don't think it's political as much as the wannabe martyr cries that the prosecution is persecuting him. Yes, he's a loathsome loser. Yes, he keeps on lyin'.

Bonus points for not mentioning his name.

I have no such stories. I grew up in a factory town and we listened to the radio every time there was enough on the ground to hope...

But if I had to crawl to school I probably could have. It was a 5-7 minute run with my wet hair freezing along the way.

They were sometimes cast in the role of 'blunt object' in a murder mystery (the only thing you can murder with a smartphone is a person's reputation).

At my age I'm becoming less protective of my privacy; but, recent world events have brought to light the need for more privacy, not less. Nations are becoming very protective of their image, and journalists or even common citizens with an opinion are the target of their wrath.

Video of Floyd's murder was appropriate imho; but, mere finger pointing to destroy another's reputation (or false accusations like Giuliani did) is NOT.

Impossible hands... I have watched pinochle and lots of bridge at the Senior Center. I won't play. I do like mahjong and love versions of rummy.

I have seen younger people playing cards but smart phones have blunted any need to connect to people face-to-face. It's quite sad.

I haven't played anything in a long time.

I gotta say I am in agreement with everything you said. I too am okay with near rhymes unless I am going for something like a true English Sonnet or other proper poetry. Then I try much harder to find exact rhymes.

I don't bat an eye when it comes to the plural/singular rhyme.

Awkward word order: like you said, happened a lot in my early poetry. I try not to do that these days.

Meter? I feel like if a poem is going to rhyme, it ought to have good meter as well. They seem to go hand in hand in my opinion. I'm a little more critical when it comes to meter, especially with poems with required meter.

Sight rhymes? Uggg! I don't get it! But a lot of the "old masters" did it.

Forced rhymes? I say it falls under the adage: First you need to learn the rules before you can break them. With your experience... you are definitely allowed to force a rhyme.

I too "played" with a small quantity of mercury. I'm not sure where the tiny bottle of it came from but I remember being very impressed how a drop of it on a dime made it look so shiny and new. Stupid kids.

Faux Conspiracy Theory

The Xbox flap may be dismissed as 'chicken little' cackling from the Faux News Network, but it begs the question of why an Australian billionaire is allowed to use the public airwaves to usher in the next zombie apocalypse? Why doesn't the FCC act to stop this nefarious plot by an avowed enemy of democracy? Is there, in fact, a deep state conspiracy so entrenched that it might well be described as down under?

Every day, a nonstop barrage of Faux images and Faux tones are beamed into the homes of mentally challenged Americans. The insidious damage continues 24/7, slowly eroding empathy and gradually dulling reason until the victims are no longer able to form independent thoughts. The result is a mindless mob that can be directed to elect a fascist dictator or even to attack the Capitol of the United States of America.

The technology behind this electronic attack is much the same as that used against American embassies to injure diplomatic personnel. High-pitched audio programming plays over the shrill yammering of the Faux news actors. Subliminal images are interlaced with their leering faces. The subversive commands infiltrate the subconscious mind and convert decent, patriotic citizens into unrecognizable monsters who serve an Aussie master.

Message boards on the dark web have long named Rupert Murdoch as the prime mover in this horrific conspiracy. His spidery touch pulls the strings and ties the plot together. And his persona can be seen shining from the eyes of one Donald J. Trump. Has anyone ever seen a non-photoshopped picture of Rupert Murdoch and Donald Trump together? Of course not! Trump is merely an ugly and offensive character played by Murdoch in the same way that Tony Clifton was played by Andy Kaufman. It's no coincidence that Murdoch stepped back from public view during the Trump administration. And we all know that his 'executive time' was spent on Faux business. The awful truth is that Trump is an inside joke perpetrated by America's worst enemy.

Sexual harassment of cartoon characters and calling climate change a woke conspiracy are mere subterfuge. Nothing more than a Faux ploy to distract attention from a very real conspiracy to bring down America from within. So, let's turn off the Faux journalists who've traded their integrity for Australian dollars. Let's return to our values of truth, decency, and tolerance. It's time to expose the Murdoch conspiracy and stop his attack on American values!
