Gloves. Have they shrunk. A man's glove worn by a woman. A discarded/lost/stolen item of clothing linked to the crime but not-at-all to the owner. A specific color with a specific meaning.
Flashlight with or without battery. Does the battery work or is it corroded. Was it used to light-the-way or as a cudgel. Is it dented, rusted, too heavy, too big, too _____.
Hacksaw. What type/style. Traces of _____ on the handle.
Key! Always a goodie. Cliche for a red herring. Broken, engraved with a name or number, type of metal, wood, plastic. Magical or a magickal symbol (where the symbol is the clue not the key itself).
Is the key hidden in the glove or flashlight?
Oh so many choices. Just let the creativity flow. The story will reveal itself. The clues will take you there... maybe even somewhere you'd rather not go.
What if the Titanic hadn't sunk? How would that have changed things? People who died didn't. People who survived didn't have the experience that changed them. How many changes would this have left unchanged? How many changes would have happened because they didn't die on the Titanic?
