My first blog entry! Wow. A few hours ago, I wasn't really sure what I should write about. Everyone makes it seem so easy - just find a topic and type about it. Some people even said that I didn't need a topic to write about. So, as I stared at this intimidatingly huge text box, I was desperately searching for answers of what to write about. I mean, first impressions are important, right? I knew I couldn't mess this up. Then I knew that if people are going to even read my blog, they will probably want to know about the author first. So that's when I decided to write about myself (honestly, this is one of my favorite subjects; I can talk about myself for hours!). For today's blog entry, you'll get to learn a little bit about me. But, before you start, you should probably know that I'm thirteen years old. What are some things you like to do in your free time? There are lots of things I like to do. One of the most obvious things is what I'm doing now - writing. I write make-believe stories all the time; most of the time just for fun. I also love to read. Some of my most favorite books are a part of book series: the Harry Potter series, Twilight, the Hunger Games, and Divergent. There are obviously a lot of other books I favorite out there as well, but those are the ones I can name off of the top of my head. I also like to watch tv. My favorite tv show of all time is Once Upon a Time (although the seventh season is awful). The show I am currently watching is Vampire Diaries. If you're watching it, please comment who your favorite character is. Mine is Damon Salvatore all the way. What are some of your "Favorite Things"? Honestly, most of my favorite things change within every day. It mainly depends on what mood I am in. For example, my favorite singer used to be Olivia Rodrigo (do you see the keywords, used to be?). Here are some of my current favorite things, though. Color: Baby Blue Animal: Elephants (always has been and always will be) TV Show: Stranger Things Movie: ??? Food: Ribs or anything that has sugar as an ingredient Flowers: Daffodils Store: Barnes and Noble Drink: Water Sport: Basketball (although I cannot play it) Ice cream Flavor: Mint chocolate-chip Who are your best friends? Why are these people your best friends? I don't have any best friends at the moment, besides my mom. This school year is a fresh start for me, and I hope to find a couple of new, better friends for myself! This is all for today. I hope you like this! Feel free to comment or give a review. Be as honest as you like, I love when people give me feedback!! Love you guys :) |
Hey guys, I have bad news. Today is my last day on WdC - at least until the next three months. I will try my best to log in if my parents allow me to, but I can guarantee this. I have only been on this site for, what? A month? It hasn't been that long, but I have seen my writing and creativity improve nonetheless. Everyone here so far has been incredibly supporting and kind, but these are just a few people that have really stood out to me: First off, the person I have enjoyed the most on this site, Spring in my Sox . She is incredibly supportive and encouraging, and I think the first true friend I have made on this site. I always like to look on my blog to see the nice comments she has written for me, which always brighten my day. If you haven't seen anything by her yet, just pop onto her portfolio. You won't be disappointed. These are the other people on here who I have found inspiring in one way or another with either their writing or their kindness: Sumojo Schnujo is Late to Lannister Richard ~ Shenanigans INC. First, one contest I have really enjoyed, called "The Writer's Cramp." If you are feeling like you have been lacking in creativity or having a bit of writer's block, this is the contest to use. With a new prompt everyday, the winner of that prompt will receive 10K GPs.
Other good contests or activities include:
Thank you to all of you for being so encouraging and kind. I appreciate it. This past month has been a good one. I have a few items in my portfolio that haven't been reviewed. I would highly appreciate anyone who took a look at them - even a short review is fine by me. Have an awesome day, guys! |
Hey guys! I am just going to go ahead and write my blog entry right now, because I don't think that I'll have time later. I have a NJHS (National Junior Honor Society) Induction Ceremony tonight at six o'clock, and I'm so excited! My brother also has a baseball game at 8:30 tonight, so I probably won't be home until around 10-ish. My mom is no longer working overnight shifts at Mercy! She is a nurse and works with newborn babies, and she just now went to day shift. I get to see her tonight. Yay! My word of the day is Mercury. Such a funny word to say. For some reason I don't know how to pronounce it, lol. Have an awesome day guys! P.S. I just found out that I have to hand in my chromebook this Thursday. I am going to try to make the best of the next three days on WdC! On Thursday, it will be another three months or so before I can go back on this site. I'll miss you. |
For today's blog entry, I am just going to vent a little bit, so if you aren't interested in hearing the troubles of a thirteen year old, this entry isn't really for you (in fact, this whole blog probably wouldn't be for you). Yesterday, I went to Aspen's birthday party, which was horseback riding. Olivia and Makyla were both there, of course, since they are both Aspen's friends. I was one of the few people who didn't wear any form of boots (I just wore sneakers), because I don't own any pair of boots. I don't normally do stuff like horseback riding because my parents don't really have the time or money to do that, so that's why I don't have any boots. So what did Olivia and Makyla decide to say since I wasn't wearing any boots? They called me a "city girl" and told me that I wasn't "country" enough to be invited to anything like this. Later, Olivia also said that the second I walked into the woods I would die. I started ignoring her after that. It wasn't the fact that I was mad at her, because I wasn't, it's the fact that she's just plain old annoying. For one, she always, ALWAYS, has to make herself seem better, even if that means overexaggerating or lying to do so. In PE, she's always telling me that she's stronger than me, better at kicking, running, whatever, than I am. Honestly, she's probably worse than me at all of those things than she is better (except kicking; she kicks me a lot, and trust me it HURTS). Olivia also lies a lot which is super annoying. She told me and a couple of my friends that nine guys asked her out in a year, and when I asked her what their names were, she told me "I don't remember." I would think that if nine guys asked you out, you would remember at least one of their names. I really sometimes just want to take her and tell her that she doesn't have to lie to impress me or make me want to be her friend. She doesn't have to intimidate me or make up these cool lies about herself so that I'll like her more - because if anything, it makes me like her less and less. Everytime I get mad at Olivia and take time away from her presence, she starts immediately talking bad about me behind my back. A couple weeks ago, I was walking directly behind Olivia and Makyla in the hallway and I heard Olivia say, "Yeah. Emma just needs to shut her big mouth. Don't you agree?" I almost started crying and didn't talk the rest of the day, her words constantly ringing in my ears, because I was worried that everyone else thought that I had a big mouth. I realized later after talking to my mom that I do not have a big mouth. If I did, many of the secrets Olivia has shared with me (and only me) would no longer be secrets. I don't brag in front of people either, because most of the time I am talking about the things I don't like about myself to others because it is easier than talking about the things I do like. Olivia always acts like she knows me so well. I hate it. No one at school knows me at all. Everyday I walk into school, put a fake smile on my face (sometimes its genuine, but not usually) and pretend everything is okay. Pretend like I don't have my own troubles at home. I have no true best friend at school. I don't have anyone truly there for me at school, not yet anyway. The only person who has always been there for me is my mom. God, I love her. I don't think that I can continue being friends with Olivia next school year. This is just a broad amount of things that Olivia has done to annoy or make me mad. I haven't included the many things that she has done to put me down or embarrass me in front of the whole school. My mom herself said that she has seen a change in myself since I've become friends with Olivia - I've become more defensive, sassy, sad, self-conscious, moody. All sorts of things. I really need your guys' advice right now. Please let me know what to do. |
Today I went to go visit my great-grandma, Granny, with my family. She turned 99 on April 30th! However, with this old age also comes memory loss. Granny has a hard time recalling small things, like names for example. "What is your name?" Granny had asked me, pointing one of her fingers at me. I smiled and answered, "My name is Emma, Granny." "Amber. What a pretty name," Granny had said, looking off into space. I saw Mom silently laughing and had to force back a laugh myself. "No, Granny. My name is Em-ma," I emphasized. "Oh, Emma. What a pretty name," she said again. Later, Granny asked me again, "What is your name, dear?" "My name is Emma." "What did you say your name was? Hammer?" Granny asked me, leaning forward to hear me better. This time my mom was laughing aloud. "No, Granny," I said again. "My name is Emma." "Emma," she said, leaning back in her chair. "What a lovely name." |
First of all, I want to thank Lilli, who gave my blog an awardicon. You made my night!! I know there are a lot of parents out there, so I just wanted to know... why are parents so overprotective??? My parents are extremely overprotective. I am one of the few kids in our school who doesn't have a phone. And on top of that, my parents said that I'm not allowed to look at phone screens. PHONE SCREENS. Imagine going throughout every day of the school year having to avoid the phones of EVERY MIDDLE SCHOOLER. Not the easiest. I mean, I love my parents, but jeez. They say that they will give me a phone when I'm more mature but how can I show them that I'm mature when they barely allow me to do anything? While all of the girls at my school have sleepovers practically every weekend, I am lucky if I even stay the night at the same person's house twice a year (seriously, I've only had had one person stay the night at my house this year, even though I ask all the time.). I am surprised my parents even let me wear any kind of makeup. The only thing I wear is mascara, which pretty much everyone at my school wears. My word of the day is giddy. |
I was about to get off my computer and then I realized that I never completed a blog entry for today! I haven't had anything going on today, so instead, I would like to hear more about your day. That is, if you want to share. You may have seen this post on the Newsfeed, but I will put it on here anyway. Here's what it said: As you know, the school year is coming to an end (I am going into eighth grade next year. Woo-hoo!). When the school year ends, the school takes back our school chromebooks that they provided us until the following year. Since I have been using WDC on my school chromebook, this means that I will not be able to use WDC until next school year, which is in about three months. They will be taking our chromebooks back in about a week, so I have a week to get the rest of my stories and stuff onto WDC. I hope you guys will still remember me by then! This has definitely been a great adventure and improved my writing a lot, even though I have only been here for a short amount of time. The people here are so supporting, encouraging, and kind! Thank you! I would also highly appreciate it if you read some of my stories and gave them reviews. Once again, thank you! It's going to be a long, long three months :( Trust me, when the school year gets back on, you'll be hearing a lot from me! I don't have a word of the day today... want to decide one for me? |
Do you remember my first blog entry? Well, if you don't or you just haven't read it, you should go back and read it. This blog entry will make more sense that way. Well, once again, Aspen was up to her mischievous self, and she made yet another poster for Daniel and I. Olivia decided to take a picture of it and she showed it to Daniel. Embarrassing. Then, in science class, I felt someone messing with my hair. I turn around and WHO IS IT?! Daniel! He was standing behind me PLAYING WITH MY HAIR WITH A PIECE OF PAPER!! When you're a teenager, that is really weird. Of course, I told Aspen and Olivia what Daniel had been doing and guess what they said? "He likes you!" "No he doesn't, that's absurd," I told them. "We both hate each other - it's how it always has been and always will be." "Everyone loves a good toxic relationship," Aspen had said. I rolled my eyes. It would never happen. Even if he did - by SOME force of nature - possibly have the teeniest, tiniest, little, itsy bitsy crush on me, it would never happen. I repeat: NEVER. Want to know my word of the day? Well, here it is: NEVER. |
Today was a funny day. First, this morning my eight year old (I can't believe it. I still remember holding him in the hospital. He turned eight on May 8th. He's grown so fast - too fast!!) brother, Hudson, comes up to me and says: "Hey, Emma, wanna hear a knock-knock joke?" He said eagerly. He had a toothy-grin on his face, so of course I had to say yes. "Okay, here it is!" Hudson clapped his hands excitedly like this was something he had always wanted to do. "Knock-knock," he says. I looked at him and smiled. "Who's there?" "Emma." "Emma who?" "Emma cold out here. Let me in!" He then went around and stomped his feet around the house, trying to imitate me. I laughed at his joke, and his grin afterwards was definitely worth it. I laughed a lot today. Like, a LOT. Don't know why. Most of the stuff, it wasn't even funny. Has that ever happened to you before? My word of the day today is cinnamon. Such a fun word. Oh, great. Now I'm laughing again. Bye guys! Happy Wednesday! Tuesday. Once again, laughing for stupid reasons. |
So today, Olivia was showing me a picture of her crush, Daniel, that Rian had sent her (let me also just say that he was shirtless in the picture). Olivia was oozing over him while I was making barf comments. Then, with the picture still on her phone screen, we heard a voice behind us. "That's a nice picture of me." We both whipped around and saw Daniel, with one of his evil grins. Olivia's face flamed up like a tomato. I don't know how she'll get out of this one... BTW, my word of the day is oozing. Did you notice how I included it in the story? |
I had a lot of other things go on in my day other than what I am about to tell you about, but I really just needed to get this off my chest because it is important to me. I also posted this on the Newsfeed today. Hey guys...this is a One Tree Hill spoiler. So if you haven't gotten past Season 3, you might not want to read this. Have you ever watched the show One Tree Hill? It's a great show (on Hulu if you ever want to watch it), but anyways, that's besides the point. My mom and I were watching an episode of One Tree HIll. And let me tell you. It was the saddest episode ever. Season 3. Episode 16. The first thing that told me that this episode was going to be different was when at the beginning there was a screen of about a paragraph of words warning parents about the things this episode was going to contain. My mom has already watched the whole show, so she warned me that if it came to be too much for me, she would turn it off. Basically what happened was Jimmy, a boy at Tree Hill High, brought a gun to school. After some bullies decided to mess up his locker, Jimmy pulled the trigger. You could see the shock on Jimmy's own face after he pulled the trigger - like he didn't even think that he would do it. Jimmy accidentally shot a girl in the leg, Peyton. The whole school went psycho after that, because after all, it is a school shooting. Jimmy held seven kids hostage in a room after that. One of them called 9-1-1 on her phone, which got him even more upset and made him threaten to shoot them. He made them make a line of tape across the center of the room, and told the hostages that if they crossed the line he would shoot them. One of the boys went across the line, daring Jimmy to shoot him, but another person punched the guy who crossed the line so that he wouldn't have to make the choice. Jimmy was hurt. He confessed his feelings and how alone he has felt in high school. He said that the best day of his life was the one day whenever no one looked at him or talked to him the whole day. You could see his hurt, and it was utterly depressing. Towards the end, Keith Scott comes into the building and tries to reason with Jimmy. Jimmy tells him that there is no coming back from this. That this felt like the only way all of the bullying and the hurt he felt would go away. And, at the end, Jimmy committed suicide. I just want you all to know that if you see someone, even if you don't recognize them, please be nice. A simple smile, a simple compliment might go a long way. Sometimes, you can get so consumed in your own feelings that you don't notice you're ignoring the others around you. |
