This is the first blog entry for me. Hopefully I will get it right, or at least head in that direction.
I am enjoying this community immensely. I have found a few kindred souls, and so far everyone has been welcoming. I am enjoying reviewing other's work. I hope to learn as I go from the reviews of my work. It is fun to see other's points of view, and inspires me to try to do my best.
I am looking forward to my journey here on Writing.com
May 1, 2023 Update: I am using this blog as a place for my Take Up Your Cross, Andre's Blogging Challenges, Blogging Circle of Friends, and Welcome to My Reality (as you can probably see from the titles)
Wonderful blog, AmyJo! Sorry for the lack of tact you received. Just remember "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder." (Margaret W. Hungerford) https://www.csuerfsa.org/index.php/news--views/blog/blog/who-created-the-saying-... in-the-eye-of-the-beholder#:~:text=Margaret%20Wolfe%20Hungerford%20(n%C3%A9e%20Hamilton,th e%20eye%20of%20the%20beholder%22.
There are those, who do not "get" fine art, walking by a fine Monet without a second glance, I, on the other hand, stop and weep.
I am aware of your poetry skills, and I doubt seriously that the comment was "called for."
Don't let negative reviews bring you down, some people may think it's helpful, but I always try and be positive. I was reminded of my college days; I was in my forties when I returned to school and had to take some composition classes. I did well in them, holding a 4.0 with my writing but there were a few who were really struggling, so the instructor put us together in a group in an attempt to help them write better. The short story we were working on was a fun topic and I had my first draft done in no time, but when they reviewed it they tore it apart and told me to keep my day job and leave the writing to someone who could.
I went on to English Comp. II and III, holding a 4.0 through them.
You've been doing a lot! Wow. I only wish I had the time ...
I have a suggestion for taking your meds. It may or may not work for you. I have morning and evening meds to take. So, before I take my evening meds, I put all my morning meds in a medicine cup. (I keep it in my glasses cabinet in the kitchen.) Then when I get up in the morning, I just have to grab the medicine cup and take my meds. I do this every day and night. If I start feeling bad during the day and suspect that I haven't taken my medication, I can look in the cabinet and see if the cup is empty or not. It's my morning routine before I feed the cats. I take care of myself first so I can take care of everyone else.
Now, don't pay attention to the negative reviewer. I am also not a poet, but I do like to try. Some of my poetry is okay, and some of it is not. Ha! Give yourself a pat on the back for trying and writing!
