A Star trek fanfiction in the Star trek (Kalvin) Universe from the JJ Abrams movies
[Introduction]
“Where should we go?” Jim Kirk asked his pointy eared first officer.

Spock abandoned his science station to stand behind his “friend” and considered the question in transit. His answer was ready as he stood next to Kirk. “As a mission of this nature has never been attempted,… I defer to your judgment”

Once again, maybe a bit more cautious perhaps than the first time, Kirk thought there was hope for the stoic Vulcan yet and moved towards the center seat.

“Mr. Sulu, take us out.” Ordered Kirk

“Aye sir” said Sulu, the only one he could have been addressing with this order.

Then, of course, Sulu asked “Course sir?”

A slight moment’s pause preceded Jim’s answer; “Second star on the left and then straight on till morning’!” answered the Captain with a wicked smile.

“Engage” he added commandingly.

“Aye sir” answered the Asian decent conn. And navigation officer Sulu with the same wicked smile.

After punching in the correct commands into the computer pulled the handle sending off the brand spanking new Enterprise-A into warp speed.

“Space… the final frontier…… These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise. It’s five year mission to explore strange new worlds… to seek out new life and new civilizations…. To boldly go where no man has gone before!!!”

"StarTrek: After the darkness comes the Light"
A startrek fanfiction in the "new" Startrek Universe created with Startrek 2009 and Into Darkness

“It’s been a long road”
It was the first thing that he said standing infront of the assembled audience at the brand new Memorial they’d built on the Academy grounds. As with al the opening lines he’d considered the words were unable to convey just how long the road had been. It would have to do though.

He overlooked the crowd that seemed eager to hear his speech. Inside he cringed. He wasn't that comfortable speaking to crowds and this was a rather sizable one as crowds went. He forced himself to go on just before the silence became ackward.

"It's been a long time as well" he continued, gaining momentum. "It began right here on this planet a good two hundred years ago during the last years of the Romulan wars" he told the, formed of young eager Starfleet Academy cadets and some Admirals mostly, crowd listening.

In the just over 80 minutes that followed the human behind the dais on the stage that was temporarily placed in front of the awesome monument the ceremony was for regailed the crowd with the story of the human refugees that had ended up in a Galaxt far far away.

It had been during the Romulan Wars just after the Federation had been created that his ancestors had secretly planned, prepared, and launched a privately owned Colony ship taking some 40.000 humans into the depths of space and away from the war. A war that at that time looked to be going very badly for the newly formed Federation and it's Starfleet of Starships.

Nine months into their journy they'd been in contact with anyone in the Federation for the last time and, when someone finally looked into the stories about the "Peacefull Future", was deemed to be lost without survivors somewhere along the Alpha and Beta Quadrant's border heading "south"

The reason contact was lost wasn't their destruction though. An anomaly, to this day unexplained nor encountered by anyone again, had created a wormhole that lead, not to another place in the milky-way galaxy like those known to the Federation in the late 24th century, to a Galaxy neighbouring Humanity's home galaxy.

The galaxy the surviving humans found themselves in, known as Bernard's Galaxy, or NGC 6822, is located 1,5 million lightyears from Earth or Sol Sector which humanity called home. Adding to the Human colonist's problems, as if being 1,5 million lightyears from home without even knowing where they were, was the damage that their ship had sustained, and the sparsity of Starsystems containing class M planets.

The conditions on their ship gradually grew worse and worse forcing the Humans to enforce tight birth control and rationing and to slowly use the resources they had brought with them or that their ship itself could provide. The deathtoll kept adding up though, no matter what they did to stop that.

Five years after their arrival in the Galaxy, only one tenth the size of the Milky Way Galaxy, the Humans finally found a class M planet that wasn't inhabited by life-forms of which their technology could determine to be sentient. They immediately started to build their new home there.

Of the 40.000 that had embarked on the journey barely 10.000 had survived and the resources that had been on the HCSS Peacefull Future when she had departed were largely distroyed or used by the time they'd reached their destination. This meant that, besides their destination, all other plans they had for building a viable colony had to be reconsidered.

The colonists started building their first settlement on the planet, using all of their ship's remaining technology. The effort only progressed slowly at first as that technology didn't include transporters or replicators Technology like that had still been to costly at the time the ship had left Earth and the young federation of planets and only affordable by its planetary governments space organization Starfleet at the time.

Most of the building materials used for the first city were taken from the ever shrinking remains of the colony ship that had brought them there.

It was no less than a decade after they'd reached the planet that the last human left the remains of the HCSS Peacefull Future and settled into a home on the planet they'd named NoDoHum which was short for Novum domum humanitates, latin for Humanities new home.

over the next few decades the struggling colony slowly started to grow and it's population grew with it, reaching 900.000 at it's first centennial celebration, and spanned 4 generations.

It was about that time too that the young civilization had spread all across the 3 continents their planet, roughly twice the size of Earth, offered to them and were able to allocate resources to the developement and construction of a Space Station.
There they built their first interplanetary ships with which they explored their local system (known to us as HD 18750) around their star, 4 times the mass of our own star known as Sol.

By then the sparse efforts into astronomy and astrophysics and related areas of science had tought the scientists that the system orbitting their star consisted of 5 rocky planets, 4 Gas giants and a very thinbut dense Kuyper belt. They'd learned they were surrounded by a very unusually thin Oort cloud and figured out their new home was located in a quiet area near the 'southern' edge of a Spherical dwarf galaxy named Bernard's Galaxy.

The discovery of the Kuyper belt and the developement of mining methods of the objects in it finally provided the humans, now evolved so far the differences were visible to the naked eye, with the resources they needed to build energy reactors with the power needed for warp-technology and providing more power than their civilization needed.

175 years after their ancestors reached NuDoHum the human branch in Bernard's galaxy finally started exploring their local area of space. The history of Earth's humans exploration of space and the interstellar wars that followed, ending with the interstellar war between Earth and its allies and the Romulan Star Empire handed down through the generations made their explorations cautious and as a result relatively slow.
