a magic journal
[Introduction]
Jennifer was a shy girl, she only had one friend who understood her and actually liked her for her, and her mom and dad were taking her away from her, They were moving to another country for her dad's work Jennifer was heartbroken. Her best friend gill understood her and was always there for her it just would not be the same only speaking on the phone, however, the one thing that kept her going was that mom said gill can come to stay in the summertime.

They arrived at the new home and Jennifer's mom allowed her to pick any room she liked as a bedroom, so she chose the room at the very top of the house, Jennifer thought it was perfect she had her own set of stairs that led up to her bedroom door and she had her own bathroom and toilet so she felt like a grown up with the privacy.

Jennifer unpacked her stuff and helped her mom and dad unpack some of the boxes and they had dinner after dinner Jennifer decided to explore the house a bit.
She went down to the basement and there were loads of stuff, old paintings, and loads of boxes with books and a lot of old rubbish.
She was rooting through the boxes when she found a Journal it was new so she decided to keep it for herself.
That night she wrote in the journal for the first time and she went to sleep.
She wrote ‘’I hope school is canceled tomorrow’’ and she fell asleep.
The next morning her mom said the school was flooded, so she would be home for a week. she wrote in her journal ‘’I wish I had gill here ‘’
The next morning her phone beeped it was a text from gill
‘’Hey, girl you wanna hear something exciting?’’
‘’Always!!! Said, Jennifer
‘’I'm coming to stay with you guys for a week our moms arranged it so we can spend your birthday next week together.

Jennifer thought about what she had written in the journal and said to herself ‘it has to be a coincidence’
So she decided to try it out to see if it was a coincidence
She wrote ‘mom will say I can get a new car for my birthday
The next morning her mom said Jennifer for your birthday I think you are mature enough to have a car.

This was insane, she was the luckiest girl in the world, she wrote and wrote but she never thought to read the tiny little instruction leaflet that was stuck on both cover pages of the book.
It said ‘Careful not to use unless really needed.
Jennifer was having a great time, she had spent her birthday with her best friend gill and she made loads of new friends in her new school, she had a new car, all the latest clothes, and iPhone, things were the best they had ever been for Jennifer.

Anytime she wanted something she wrote in her diary this went on for a few weeks.
One day Jennifer came home and her parents were clearly upset, her mom had been to the hospital that morning and had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Jennifer ran to her room and wrote ‘mom will be okay the cancer can be removed but she needed to know if it worked, so she wrote ‘dad will win the lottery tonight his numbers will come out.
That night she watched the tv with her dad and watched as all his numbers came out except for one number. It didn't work, she realized she had messed up big time.
It was heartbreaking that she realized how selfish she had been, she used all her chances on silly things like clothes and a car when she literally had the power to save her moms life.
She went to bed and cried herself to sleep.
The next morning she wrote in her diary properly for the first time since she found it.
She wrote how selfish she felt and that if she knew she would only use it for stuff she really needed.
The magic in the journal accepted this as a real apology because real tears dropped on top of the page as she wrote.
Jennifer had a final wish left although she did not know it, she wrote
‘Let my mom get the all clear please please, please
3 weeks later Jennifer's mom had a successful operation and got the all-clear.
Jennifer realized there was more to life than cars and clothes and spent even weekends with her mom and dad enjoying their company.
