It's so hard to believe that an entire year has already passed by and you have provided so many of us with strength, optimism, compassion, and beauty. You are truly one of a kind!! It seems like yesterday when we met. I remember exactly the piece that opened the door to our friendship; it was the piece I wrote (an essay) on Capital Punishment. From that moment on our friendship would blossom to a more enriching, deep sisterhood instead. I cannot even imagine what my life would be like without you in it; our hours of long chit chat over absolutely nothing would be gone.....who would keep me sane then? hehehe I remember you used to be on this site ALL night and then when I would hop on in the day - you would be crashed. Those were the days when you were using Meth. It kept you up all night long until the wee hours of the morning, and me being a morning person (arising at 5-6 a.m. every morning) would still see you on WDC!! It's so good to see you on a normal schedule...one that keeps you healthy, and most of all - ALIVE! Kristi D'Ann - I am so very proud of you! An entire year of being clean is more than an outstanding achievement; it's a blessing. One that can come even remotely close to the exact nature of which I truly feel will be difficult, at best. I am completely overwhelmed and humbled by all of the love and support! The warm and true friendship that has come from every direction I can imagine is mind boggling. I did not realize I had so many friends, and for that, I am very ashamed of myself. The joy in my heart is unexplainable, no... unfathomable. As I have already mentioned to a few friends, today was definitely the best day of my entire life thus far. Each of you have played a major role in the year coming up for me; the one that begins at this moment. I know, without a doubt, that if I ever experience a weak moment, I have a sea of friends to run to. Until today, I only thought I had a small pond. Boy, was I ever wrong! Ssshhh... please don't tell anyone I was wrong, for I doubt they would believe it!!  Only kidding.With this year behind me, I plan on doing something a bit different with this next one. For the past year, I have written a tiny, tiny book of poetry dealing with addiction (not one that is published, just located in my port). Even over the past month, I have written a few more, one of which was written not only by me, but co-written with Stacy. As far as I can tell, I am through with those poems. From now on, any poem dealing with addiction will deliver a message of this side I'm now on rather than the one I was on a year ago. It's time to stop focusing on that aspect of it and direct all my energy toward the positive that has come from a life of "hell". So, please be on the lookout for such a folder full of new ideas! As you all can imagine, I have received many, many emails over the past day and a half. I promise I am working through them all as quickly as I can!! One good thing is that tomorrow (Friday) is my day off from work, so after a bit of sleeping in (geez, probably 'til noon!), I will be dedicating the rest of the day to all my friends who so awesomely celebrated today with me!!! I love you all! Really! I love each and every one of you so much and don't know what I would do without any of you. This was one of the most fabulous parties I have ever been to!!!!!! |
