Rules Accepting poetry only. No line or word count limit. In addition, it can be any form you choose or free form. Your poem must be newly written for the contest and adhere to the prompt unless otherwise stated. Somewhere in your item or in your forum message, you must state the prompt that you used. Ratings of poems may be up to XGC. The owner of this contest prefers items at least 18+. No sweet nature themed or romantic poetry allowed. Although, your poem may have sexual content. I will not accept writing advocating sexual assault, pedophilia, scat, or racism. You may submit up to two poems. Entry must be submitted in bitem or entry format. (if you aren't sure how, see "Video: Linking to an Item" for directions) Editing is allowed after entry has been submitted, but not after the deadline. Contest start date begins November 1st and ends at 11:59 p.m. on the last day of December. I no longer leave prompt images sharable because I am likely to delete them eventually. Although, if you would like to use one of the images, e-mail me and I will send them to you in an attachment.
1. Emotiveness- does your poem invoke a strong emotional response in the reader?
2. A unique voice- Is your poem cliché or do you express your ideas in a unique way?
3. Grammar- Just as in any other writing, if the grammar is used in poetry, it should be done correctly.
4. For structured forms, you will be judged on how well you followed the rules of the form.
5. Free verse is more than just throwing a bunch of cliché lines together without applying any poetic elements. A well written free verse utilizes the manipulation of words, line breaks, and many other poetic tools. How well you use these tools will be evaluated when judging.

Prompt 1
Pen a poem which centers around a controversial topic. Since these days any topic which deviates from what someone else might believe becomes a trigger, this leaves the prompt wide open. You are welcome to write about anything from anti-feminism, feminism, abortion, anti-abortion, politics, to Covid vaccines. The list is endless. Just remember, I do not judge on whether I agree with the writer or not. Judging is based on poetic language, structure, and emotiveness.
Prompt 2
Prompt 3
Pen a poem based on the following quote by Tom Waits:
"Reality is for people who can't face drugs."
