Nursery Rhymes have taken a dark turn...

There are plenty of Nursery Rhymes that appear innocuous on the surface but have dark origins.
For example, Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary (1744) ▼

The goal of this contest is to take the innocent Nursery Rhyme provided and turn it dark, twisted, and scary!



On Top of Spaghetti
written by Tom Glazer

On top of spaghetti all covered with cheese
I lost my poor meatball when somebody sneezed

It rolled off the table, it rolled on the floor
And then my poor meatball rolled out of the door

It rolled in the garden and under a bush
And then my poor meatball was nothing but mush.

The mush was as tasty as tasty could be,
And early next summer it grew to a tree.

The tree was all covered with beautiful moss
It grew great big meatballs and tomato sauce.

So if you eat spaghetti all covered with cheese,
Hold on to your meatball and don’t ever sneeze.




1. Your second line should start with "I lost my poor"

2, Maintain the form of 12 lines (6 couplets)
2a. Maintain the rhyme scheme.

3. Put your own dark twist on the poem.
Your version can be mysterious, dark, or horror.

4. This contest forum is rated 18+
Your entries can go as high as GC,
but please no sexual assault, pedophilia, scat, or racism.

5. Entry must be submitted in 'bitem' or 'entry' format.

6. You may edit your poem after it's been submitted, but not after the deadline.




First Prize:
A 25K Coffee Awardicon

Second Prize:
A 10K Awardicon & Community MB

* A minimum of five entries are required for 1st Prize to be awarded
* A minimum of seven entries are needed for both prizes to be awarded.

Honorable mentions will receive 5,000 gift points and will be given at the judge's discretion.
