Fatback and a new one
I read your question about fatback. It is a very fatty piece of meat from the back of a pig.

My new contribution: my mother-in-law would pull the lining from a raw egg and put it on a boil or other skin eruption. It would draw out the gunk and speed healing. I would think it might work on a sliver also.
